PLO Executive Committee Member and Chief Negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat strongly condemned today’s demolition of a Palestinian home in the Jericho/Jordan Valley Area, displacing 12 members of the Rashayda family. During the demolition, Israeli Occupation Forces assaulted five women.  These women were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.

Dr. Erekat said “this new act of aggression is further proof that members of the Israeli government wish to undermine the negotiations process. Today’s brutal escalation of Israeli violence against Palestinian civilians leaves 12 people homeless, and this month has seen five Palestinians killed.”

Dr. Erekat continued: “This year alone, Israeli Occupation Forces have demolished 422 Palestinian structures, including several homes, displacing around 800 people.  We are taking note of each Israeli violation of international law perpetrated against the Palestinian people. We call on the international community to increase the price of the occupation and its associated regimeas weask them not to allow Israel to continue to act with impunity.”
