MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 November 2017 to November 30 2017. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of November  2017

  • 1 November: Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning during their raid into Shu'fat camp and and Ras Shihadeh neighborhood and the camps in Jerusalem city and as a result injured 6 children in the camp.
  • 3 November: 5 Palestinian Gunmen were found buried in the rubble after Israeli forces blew up a tunnel in east Khan Yunis city {as mentioned in the report of October 31st 2017} are identified as: Badr Kamal Musabah, Ahmed Hassan Al-Sabakhi, Shadi Sami Al-Hamri, Mohammad Khairuddin Al-Buhaisi, and Alaa Sami Abu Ghorab.
  • 5 November: Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Khan Yunis city and as a result injured a fishermen.
  • 8 November: An Israeli settler's vehicle ran over the child Yamen Mustafa Assad Suf {8 years old} {a resident of Harris village} near Harris village junction and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • 10 November: Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Jalazoun camp fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Hani Mahna Jum'a Hamidat {13 years old}.
  • 14 November: Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near the entrance of Deir Nathim village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Mohammad Raghib Al-Tamimi.
  • 17 November: Israeli forces positioned at "Kafr Itsiyon" settlement junction opened fire towards the child Iz-Aldin Ibrahim Karajat {17 years old}{A resident of Halhul town} for allegedly attempting to run over and stab 2 Israeli settlers and as a result left him critical injured then detained him.
  • 21 November: Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning as they attempted to prevent Israeli settlers from storming Joseph’s tomb  and as a result injured 2 children :Omar Ahmad Abdel-Raziq Hiinu {16 years old} and Moath Samer Samo Dari {16 years old}during their raid into Nablus city.
  • 28 November: Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Arub camp fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 2 residents {including a child}: Nadeem Muhieb Abdel-Fattah Jawabrah {17 years old} and Ahmad Mohammad Abdallah Abu Raya.
  • 30 November: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Ras Al-Nakhil area located in Qusra town and opened fire towards Mahmoud Ahmad Za'al Odah {48 years old} and as a result killed him

  • November 14th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city and forced Abdel-Raheem Obiyat to demolish his home and pay a fine for allegedly being built without a license.
  • November 15th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Beit Suriq town demolished the home of Nimer Al-Jamal

Tubas:

  • November 13th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Buqay'a area in the North Jordan valley area and leveled approximately 2 dunums {acres} of agricultural land owned by Ahmad Thiyab Abu Khaziran {A resident of Tubas city}.
  • November 16th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Ras Al-Hamara area in the North Jordan Valley area and paved a road {6 meters Wide and 1000 Meters long} on privately owned land.

Salfit:

  • November 4th 2017: Israeli forces began construction digging near Khirbeit Qarqash {An Archaeological site} located near Batn Al-Hamam area in Salfit city and Harris village for the development of an Industrial zone for "Arail" settlement and also for the expansion of "Bruchin" settlement located north of Bruqin and Kfr Al-Dik towns.

Jerusalem:

  • November 8th 2017: Israeli authorities approved construction license for 240 settlement units {150 in "Ramat Shlomo" settlement and 90 settlement units in "Gilo" settlement} all on land located in Jerusalem city which was occupied in 1967.

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of January the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 425 flying checkpoints in November 2017 (compared with 397 in October 2017 and 356 in September 2017) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

Jerusalem:

  • November 1st 2017, Israeli forces issued a military order to evict Bedouin homes and leave the area where 57 families live, including 320 Jahalin Arabs In the area of Jabal al-Baba, east of al-'Eizariya, near Ma'ale Adumim settlement.
  • November 8th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a storage room owned by Abu Nijma family in Silwan neighborhood for allegedly being built without a license.
  • November 8th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a Car dealership owned by Harhash family in Al-Samar area located in Al-Shiekh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • November 13th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Ein Al-Louza area in Jerusalem city and forced the family of Amin Al-Abbassi to demolish their merchant shop and pay a fine for allegedly being built without a license.
  • November 14th 2017: Israeli forces leveled a plot of land in the area located between Al-Shiekh Al-Sa'ed and Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya villages.

Ramallah & Al-Bireh:

  • November 21st 2017: Israeli forces demolished a concrete wall surrounding a plot of land owned by Mahmoud Mohammad Odah Wahdan during their raid into Rantis village.

Tubas:

  • November 11th 2017:  The Israeli forces issued a military order (5778 - 2017) ordering the evacuation of Ein al-Hilweh and Umm al-Jamal in the Wadi al-Maleh in the northern Jordan Valley for 8 days, from 30 families (200 residents).
  • November 13th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Buqay'a area in the North Jordan valley area and leveled approximately 2 dunums {acres} of agricultural land owned by Ahmad Thiyab Abu Khaziran {A resident of Tubas city}.
  • November 13th 2017: Israeli forces stormed the area west of Bardala village in the North Jordan valley area and mapped the area.
  • November 29th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Sakkut area located in the North Jordan valley and kicked out several farmers from the area thus preventing them from farming their land.

Nablus:

  • November 7th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Faroush Beit Dajan village and demolished a residential room and an agricultural pond feeding greenhouses owned by Qassim Ibrahim Abu Jish and Bassam Ibrahim Abu Jish for allegedly being built without a license.

Hebron:

  • November 16th 2017: Israeli forces sealed off the doors and windows of a home owned by Khalid Shihadeh during their raid into Yatta town.
  • November 22nd 2017: Israeli forces demolished a livestock den owned by Mohammad Yunis Abu Aram in Khirbeit Al-Halawa located in south east Yatta town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • November 27th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a storage room owned by Abdel-Hakim Zakariya Masauda near Beit Einoun village for allegedly being built without a license.

Confiscation of Property:

Jerusalem:

  • November 27th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 8 vehicles during their raid into Beit Iksa village.

Ramallah & Al-Bireh:

  • November 14th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 5000 NIS which was for rebuilding the home of Bara' Ibrahim Atta {who was killed by Israeli forces} after Israeli forces demolished it during their raid into Deir Abu Mash'al village.
  • November 19th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 1.5 KG of Gold after storming and searching a jewelry shop owned by Iz Al-Asbah during their raid into Ramallah city.

Jenin:

  • November 27th 2017: Israeli forces positioned at a flying checkpoint in the area between Al-Zababda and Qabatiya towns confiscated a vehicle owned by Atallah Mohammad Attallah Hashash {A resident of Balata camp in Nablus city} after detaining him.

Nablus:

  • November 11th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Khirbeit Tana village located in east Beit Furiq town and confiscated a tractor as it was ploughing agricultural land after detaining the driver.
  • November 12th 2017: Israeli forces positioned near Huwara Military base confiscated an agricultural tractor owned by Araffat Jaber Darwish Haleil {A resident of Einbuis village} as he was collecting wood in the area.
  • November 23rd 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a Solid waste truck owned by Aqraba town Council for allegedly dumping its contents in an area located in North West Aqraba town which is in area C which is under Israeli Military and administrative control.
  • November 26th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a cellular Telephone, a computer and 2 USB flash drives after storming and searching the home Moath Billal Ishtayeh {A Palestinian Detainee}during their raid into Tel village.
  • November 27th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage after storming Al-Rayan Furniture store during their raid into Deir Sharaf village.

Bethlehem:

  • November 15th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 5600 NIS from the home of Amin Daud Ahmad Radayda as they detained him during their raid into Ubidiya town.

Hebron:

  • November 1st 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a Bulldozer owned by Awar Kafriya in Hebron city.
  • November 1st 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 350 g of gold jewelry owned by Shaher Ramadan Hajja from his home in Dura town.
  • November 6th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a cellular telephone, cash and personnel file documents after storming and searching the home of Adel Al-Halayka during their raid into Al-Shiyoukh town.
  • November 12th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a computer owned by Majdi Mohammad Abu Fara as they detained him after storming his home during their raid into Surif town.
  • November 27th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Riziq Muslalim Al-Rajoub during their raid into Dura town.

North Gaza:

  • November 6th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in North West Beit Lahiya town.

Settlements Activities:

Ramallah &Al-Bireh:

  • November 19th 2017: Israeli forces built a concrete wall in Beit El settlement near Al-Jalazoun camp.

Tubas:

  • November 13th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Buqay'a area in the North Jordan valley area and leveled approximately 2 dunums {acres} of agricultural land owned by Ahmad Thiyab Abu Khaziran {A resident of Tubas city}.
  • November 16th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Ras Al-Hamara area in the North Jordan Valley area and paved a road {6 meters Wide and 1000 Meters long} on privately owned land.

Salfit:

  • November 4th 2017: Israeli forces began construction digging near Khirbeit Qarqash {An Archaeological site} located near Batn Al-Hamam area in Salfit city and Harris village for the development of an Industrial zone for "Arail" settlement and also for the expansion of "Bruchin" settlement located north of Bruqin and Kfr Al-Dik towns.

Jerusalem:

November 8th 2017: Israeli authorities approved construction license for 240 settlement units {150 in "Ramat Shlomo" settlement and 90 settlement units in "Gilo" settlement} all on land located in Jerusalem city which was occupied in 1967.

Settler Violence

                  25 incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of November 2017 including:

Tubas:

  • November 3rd 2017: a group of armed Israeli settlers from "Migola" settlement stormed Ein Al-Sakkut area in the North Jordan valley attacked several farmers and opened fire towards them during which they assaulted Hafith Zamal Abdel-Raziq and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions during which Israeli forces removed the farmers from the area and prevented them from entering the area for a period of 2 days.
  • November 6th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Sakkut area on the North Jordan valley and sawed off a 400 m and 6 inch water pipe line {which goes through Ein Al-Bayda village to farms in Al-Sakkut area} then proceeded to steel the pipe lines and threatened farmers against entering the area.
  • November 24th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Ein Al-Sakkut area located in the North Jordan valley and assaulted several residents who were planting crops during which Israeli forces forcibly removed the residents and warned them not to enter the land until November 26th 2017.
  • November 26th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Ein Al-Sakkut area located in the North Jordan valley and installed 3 Mobile homes then began plowing the surrounding land.

Nablus:

  • November 1st 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stole Olive harvest from 280 Olive trees owned by Saleem Daoud Abu Saft, Sabri Hamad Abu Saft, Abdel-Jaber Ameen Mustafa, Fihmi Mir'i and Bashir Salim in Deir Sharaf village located near "Shavi Shamron" settlement.
  • November 5th 2017: Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement prevented several farmers from entering agricultural land for Olive harvest in Huwara town located near the settlement.
  • November 8th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement assaulted Taysir Mahmoud Sabah and his wife {both residents of Orif village} as they were collecting Olive harvest on their land located in east Orif village and as a result left them hospitalized during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to defend those who were assaulted by the settlers.
  • November 8th 2017: Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land located in Burin village near "Barghat" settlement and stole Olive harvests owned by Ibrahim Ali Abed.
  • November 11th 2017: Israeli settlers stormed Jit village and stoned the home of Jamal Yamin which located near "Qadumim" settlement then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military.
  • November 13th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Kafr Qalil village and provoked several residents as they collected Olive harvest then kicked them out of the area.
  • November 13th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the west area of Al-Labban Al-Gharbiya village and stole a Bulldozer owned by Nael Ahmad Awies as he was doing work on agricultural land during which Israeli forces returned the bulldozer to the owner and told him to halt work on it.
  • November 13th 2017: Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stormed Huwara town then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military
  • November 13th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Huwara Military checkpoint stoned residents and vehicles and as a result injured 2 residents.
  • November 17th 2017: Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement set fire to agricultural land in Burin village then stoned several residents and Palestinian Civil Defense forces as they attempted to put of the fire.
  • November 29th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the main road in Huwara town and stoned several vehicles.
  • November 30th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Ras Al-Nakhil area located in Qusra town and opened fire towards a residents and as a result killed him.
  • November 30th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Assira Al-Qibliya stoned several farmers and as a result injured 2 residents during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack

Salfit:

  • November 8th 2017: An Israeli settler's vehicle ran over the child Yamen Mustafa Assad Suf {8 years old} {a resident of Harris village} near Harris village junction and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.

Hebron:

  • November 10th 2017: Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military stormed Hebron city and assaulted Ahmad Hadib and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • November 17th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Wadi Nasri area located in the old city of Hebron located near "Kiryat Arba'" settlement stoned several homes and sprayed pepper spray onto the face of 2 children from Isfa'in family and as a result left them suffocated.
  • November 18th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from "Kiryat Arba'" and "Kharsina" settlements located in the old city of Hebron stoned several residents and vehicles passing along the main bypass road and as a result damaged a vehicle
  • November 24th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from "Magon" settlement stormed land in Al-Kharoub village located in south east Yatta town and stoned several farmers who were working on agricultural land and as a result injured Fadil Ahmad Al-Ruba'i.
  • November 25th 2017: Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Ibrahimi Mosque compound in the old city of Hebron assaulted 2 children: Wadi' Karam Masaud {9 years old} and Islam Ibrahim Al-Fakhouri and as a result left them hospitalized with contusions.
  • November 28th 2017: Israeli settlers from "Mitzpe Ya'ir" settlement assaulted several residents using rifles as they were farming their land in Khirbiet Um Hamit village located in south Yatta town and as a result left several residents hospitalized with contusions

 Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 159 occasions during the month of November 2017. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 103 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 26 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 21 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.

The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 56 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed for 26 days. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
