Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh Discusses Political and Security Developments for Palestinian National Institutions with a High-Level European Delegation
Ramallah—June 10, 2026— During a meeting with a high-level European delegation, His Excellency Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, discussed the latest political and security developments, the current situation in the West Bank, and the challenges facing the work of Palestinian national institutions.
The European delegation included H.E. Ambassador Alexandre Stutzmann, the European Union Representative to Palestine, and Ms. Karin Limdal, the Head of Mission for the European Union Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS). On the Palestinian side, the meeting was attended by Major General Allam Al Saqqa, Director General of the Palestinian Police; Major General Rislan Shibrahim, Advisor to the Vice President; and Mrs. Ayah AlMuhisin, Chief of Staff of the Vice President.
Al Sheikh briefed the European delegation on the most prominent political and security developments and challenges, as well as the efforts made to enhance stability and preserve the capacity of Palestinian institutions to carry out their duties in the service of the Palestinian people, especially under the difficult conditions imposed by the occupation authorities and settlers through assaults against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, the ongoing suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues. Al Sheikh also emphasized the Palestinian leadership's endeavors to consolidate the democratic process and renew legitimacies following the completion of local elections, in preparation for general elections.
Al Sheikh expressed gratitude for the European Union for its support for the Palestinian people and their leadership, commending its role in supporting efforts to build Palestinian state institutions and enhance stability and development.
For their part, members of the European delegation affirmed the European Union's continued support for the Palestinian Authority and its institutions, and the necessity of continuing joint cooperation, reiterating the European Union's supportive stance toward achieving just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.
