Ramallah—October 8, 2026—In a statement issued today, Thursday, His Excellency Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, condemn and denounce the Israeli illegal actions against the UK Consulate General in Jerusalem and its staff.

Al Sheikh reiterate that these actions represent an unacceptable interference in the work of diplomatic missions and an attempt to impose Israeli sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem, which is Palestinian land occupied since 1967, and the capital of the State of Palestine, and Israel has no sovereignty over it.

In the same context, Al Sheikh appreciated the United Kingdom’s position rejecting any Israeli claim to close the consulate that has a historic presence in East Jerusalem, and its insistence on continuing its operations and serving the Palestinian people and maintaining its presence in Jerusalem.

Al Sheikh reaffirmed the State of Palestine’s commitment to strengthening its relations with the United Kingdom, and joint work to end the occupation and realize the independent State of Palestine with its capital East Jerusalem, and support the two-state solution.
