Vice President Hussein Sheikh Discusses Developments in the Palestinian Cause with the French Special Envoy for the Consolidation of the State of Palestine
Ramallah—November 2, 2026—Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, discussed today, Monday, with the French Special Envoy for the Consolidation of the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. André Parant, the latest developments in the Palestinian cause amid the ongoing suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, and the escalating settler attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Théo Siproudhis, Political Advisor at the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem, and Ms. Salomé Bataille, Desk Officer for Palestine at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in addition to H.E. Dr. Laila Ghannam, Fatah’s Central Committee Member, and Mrs. Ayah AlMuhisin, Chief of Staff to the Vice President.
The meeting covered the political aspects and conditions on the field in the Palestinian territories, amidst the ongoing aggression and the worsening humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip. It also addressed the escalation of settler attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which have targeted citizens and their property, as well as foreign solidarity activists who face assaults while standing in support of our people.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed efforts to prepare the political and on-the-ground conditions for holding the upcoming legislative and presidential elections, and to ensure the participation of our people in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, alongside international action aimed at achieving peace.
During the meeting, Al Sheikh emphasized the importance of France continuing its political and diplomatic role in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, building upon its recognition of the State of Palestine, working to halt Israeli attacks and violations, providing international protection for our people, and translating international stances into practical steps that contribute to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For her part, H.E. Dr. Ghannam highlighted key aspects of the situation on the ground and the unfolding events in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza, pointing to the ongoing machinery of killing, destruction, and displacement, as well as settler attacks and the denial of the Palestinian people’s fundamental rights.
They also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation, and to support reform efforts and the development of the institutions of the State of Palestine.
