Al Sheikh: Israel’s Frenzied Campaign Against UNRWA Threatens to Halt Humanitarian Work for Large Segments of Our People
Ramallah | 29 January 2026 - The Vice President of the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Hussein Al Sheikh, said in a statement that “Israel’s frenzied campaign against UNRWA institutions in Palestine threatens to bring an end to the humanitarian work these institutions provide to large segments of the Palestinian people.”
Al Sheikh commended the positions taken by many countries around the world that have condemned this campaign and called on Israel to immediately cease its measures. He urged other friendly states to adopt firm stances and actions against the Israeli government, which continues its occupation policies, including demolition and destruction, settler violence, the confiscation of funds, ongoing settlement expansion, land seizures, and the torture of prisoners—constituting a blatant challenge to international norms and laws, as well as to international legitimacy resolutions and humanitarian and human rights bodies.
He added, “The world must amplify its voice and tell the occupying government: enough. There should be no appeasement toward this occupation.”
