Statement by Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh on the Israeli Knesset's demand that the Israeli government impose sovereignty over the West Bank.

Ramallah - July 23, 2025 - Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh stated that the Israeli Knesset's demand for the Israeli government to impose sovereignty over the West Bank represents not only a direct assault on the rights of the Palestinian people, but also a dangerous escalation that undermines the prospects for peace, stability, and the two-state solution based on negotiation, which enforces and protects regional security.

He added, "These unilateral Israeli actions blatantly violate international law and the ongoing international consensus regarding the status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank."

He called on the international community to uphold international legitimacy and its resolutions, and to place efforts to stop these violations and prevent the consolidation of the occupation as a reality by force. We also call on the countries of the world to recognize the State of Palestine and to condemn and denounce this decision.
