Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh discusses latest developments with an official delegation from the German Federal Foreign Office
Ramallah – 20 May 2026 – His Excellency Mr. Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, discussed the latest local, regional, and international developments today, Wednesday, with an official delegation from the German Federal Foreign Office, headed by H.E. State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, Mr. Bernhard Kotsch and attended by Ms Anke Schlim, Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Palestine.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them were discussed, whilst Sheikh expressed his sincere gratitude for the German government’s support for the Palestinian people and its support for UNRWA.
The two sides also discussed the latest local, regional, and international developments, including the municipal elections, the Eighth Fatah Conference, and the decision taken at the PLO Executive Committee meeting to hold general elections. The meeting reviewed the escalating Israeli measures and policies in the Gaza Strip, including preventing the entry of aid to the Palestinian people, and the danger posed by settler violence in the West Bank, including incursions, the withholding of funds, and other actions that threaten the collapse of the Palestinian Authority.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Laila Ghanam, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, and Dr. Majdi AlKhalidi, the President’s adviser.
