Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh welcomes efforts to move to the second phase in Gaza

Ramallah, January 14, 2026 – His Excellency Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, welcomed the efforts undertaken by President Donald Trump, Special Envoy for Peace Mr. Steve Witkoff, Mr. Jared Kushner and the US teams and Mr. Nickolay Mladenov, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, aimed at moving to the second phase in the Gaza Strip and forming the Palestinian Committee for the Administration of Gaza during this transitional phase.

Al Sheikh emphasized Palestine's firm stance on the need to maintain the ceasefire, expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid, open the crossings, begin recovery and reconstruction, ensure Israeli withdrawal, and preserve the unity of the country and its people.
