Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh meets with the European Union Special Representative Mr. Christophe Bigot

Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh met with the European Union Special Representative, Mr. Christophe Bigot, in the presence of the Special Representative's Chief of Staff and Political Advisor, Mr. Martin Mikkelsen, and the European Union Representative in Palestine, Mr. Alexander Stutzmann.

The prospects for political solutions were discussed, given the Palestinian leadership's efforts and priorities to halt the war of extermination waged by the occupation against our people.

Al Sheikh stressed the need to press for a ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to our people in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of formulating a common political horizon. He also thanked the European Union for its support for the State of Palestine, calling on all EU countries to take effective steps towards recognizing the Palestinian state. He also pointed to the great importance of the New York Conference on the two-state solution, to be held on the 17th of this month, and the opportunity it represents towards achieving just peace in the region.
