The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 April 2023 to 30  April 2023. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations.. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  April  2023

  • On 1/4/2023, the occupying forces opened fire near the entrance to the town of Beit Ummar, at the military, Muhammad Raed Nayef Baradiya, 23 years old - a resident of the town of Surif. A member of the National Security Forces while driving his vehicle, which led to his death, under the pretext that he had run over 3 soldiers of the occupation forces.
  •  On 4/2/2023, he was admitted to the Governmental Hospital in Hebron, citizen: Muhammad Salama Al-Zar - a resident of Surif town, as a result of his injuries and bruises, as a result of being run over by a military vehicle of the occupation forces.
  • On the morning of 3/4/2023, during the storming of the city of Nablus, the occupying forces fired live and metal bullets coated with rubber, stun grenades and tear gas at the citizens, under the pretext that they had been shot and thrown with stones, while they were besieging and raiding a number of houses, which led to the death of 2 citizens They are: Muhammad Junaidi Abu Bakr and Muhammad Nasser Saeed al-Hallaq. Fifty-five citizens suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas, and one citizen was injured in the leg as a result of being robbed by trained (police) dogs.
  • On 4/8/2023, the occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas at the citizens during clashes that took place near the main entrance to the town of Azzun, which resulted in the injury of the citizen, A'id Azzam Mahmoud Salim, 18, and he was declared dead later.
  • On 10/4/2023 , the occupation army stormed Aqabat Jabr camp, where clashes took place with the citizens, during which the occupation forces fired fire, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas at the citizens, which led to the death of the child citizen Muhammad Fayez Bilhan, 15 years old - resident Aqabat Jabr camp. Jarra was wounded by live bullets in the head, abdomen and pelvis, and 3 civilians were wounded in the lower extremities. They also arrested 5 citizens.
  • On 11/4/2023, the occupying forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas at the citizens during clashes that took place in the village of Deir al-Hatab. Abdullah Saeed Al-Titi (a released prisoner) and the citizen Muhammad Ghazi Abu Dira’ - residents of Balata camp. And another wound.
  • On the morning of 4/24/2023, during the storming of the city of Ariha and the Aqbat Jaber camp, the occupying forces fired live and metal bullets coated with rubber, stun grenades and tear gas at the citizens, under the pretext that they had been shot and thrown with stones, which led to the death of Suleiman Ayesh Hussein Awaid, 20 years old.   • On 4/27/2023, the occupation forces, at the traffic light near the Haris village junction, opened fire at the citizen Ahmed Yaqoub Muhammad Taha, 39 years old - residents of the town of Bidya. (A military member of the National Security Forces), after he got out of his vehicle after a traffic accident occurred between his vehicle and another vehicle carrying a Palestinian registration plate, which led to his death.
  • On 4/28/2023, the occupation forces fired live and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas, near the western entrance to the town of Tuqu', at the citizens, under the pretext that they had been thrown with stones, which led to the death of the 16-year-old Mustafa Amer Ali Sabah.

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of April  2023, the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 375 checkpoints in April 2023 (Compared with 342 checkpoints in March 2023 and 372 checkpoints in February 2023) as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military carried out a total of 541 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of  April 2023, including 540 in the West Bank and 1 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of 26 Jerusalem, 60 Ramallah, 137 Jenin, 2 Tubas, 28 Tulkarm, 21 Qalqilya, 141 Nablus, 22 Salfit, 14 Jericho, 38 Bethlehem, 51 Hebron, 1 Rafah.

  • On 4/18/2023, the occupation forces confiscated a private vehicle, owned by the citizen: Abdul Karim Alaa, during their raid into the city of Jenin and its camp and Ibrahim Ahmed, during his arrest.
  • On 4/13/2023, the occupation forces confiscated a private vehicle, owned by the citizen: Nidal Nafi'at, at the bridge of Zabad village, while he was arrested with his sister.

Nablus:

On 4/30/2023, the occupation forces confiscated a "caravan" near Hisham's Palace in the city, during the storming of the city of Jericho.

Closure of Crossing Points
