MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

01 February 2022 – 28 February 2022

 

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 February 2022 to 28 February 2022. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  February  2022

02/02/2022:  the citizen: Yousef Khaled Youssef Musa - a resident of Tulkarm city, was admitted to the Arab Specialized Hospital, as a result of being seriously wounded, as a result of being shot by the Israeli occupation forces charged with guarding the apartheid wall near the village of Far’oun 02/04/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in the town of Beita, fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects and as a result injured 45 civilians (including a child, and 2 journalists), and left 87 other civilians suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 02/08/2022:  a special Israeli Military force stormed the city of Nablus opened fire at a private vehicle (with the aim of assassination), which led to the death of 3 civilians: Adham Gamal Abdel Rahim Mabrouka, Mohamed Raed Hassan Al Dakhil, and Ashraf Mohamed Abdel Fattah Mabslat. 02/11/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village for alleged stoning and as a result injured 10 civilians (including a child), and left a number of civilians suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas. 02/13/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens while they were trying to prevent the demolition of a prisoner’s house, which led to the death of the child: Muhammad Akram Abu Salah, 17 years old - a resident of the town of Al-Yamoun , and the injury of 20 citizens (including 2 children)during their raid into of Al-Silah Al-Harithiya town. 02/13/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens and foreign solidarity activists demonstrating against the settlers’ attacks, wounding 29 civilians (including a child and 3 paramedics) and also left 2 of the solidarity activists, and a number of demonstrators suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 02/15/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces near the entrance to the village of Nabi Saleh fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning which led to the death of a citizen: Nihad Amin Al-Barghouti, 20 years old - a resident of Kafr Ein village. 02/15/2022: The citizen Malik Mualla after injured after he was bitten by a trained (police) dog that was unleashed by the Israeli occupation soldiers during his detention in the city of Al-Bireh. 02/18/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in the town of Beita, fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects and as a result injured 14 civilians (including a child, and 2 journalists), and a number of citizens suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas. 02/22/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces in the Jabal Abu Sud area in the town of Al-Khader fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun, and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result killed a child:  Muhammad Rizk Shehadeh Salah, 14 years old (a school student). 02/23/2022: the Israeli occupation forces assaulted the citizen: Muayyad Shaaban, while he was trying to confront a group of settlers who tried to prevent the students from reaching their school located along the main street, Nablus - Ramallah 02/23/2022: The child: Ahmed Ayed Louay Thawabteh, 13 years old, sustained a broken leg, as a result of the Israeli occupation forces severely beating him while he was in detention and was subsequently admitted to the Governmental Hospital in Beit Jala for treatment. 02/24/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces attacked a number of citizens in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem in solidarity with the people of the neighborhood, and also removed the solidarity tent that the people had set up in the neighborhood. 02/25/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in the Nabe` al-Maa area in the village of Qaryut, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards the citizens for alleged stoning injuring 6 citizens, and injuring a number of citizens who suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. On the morning of 02/ 27/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya school fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards participants in a demonstration protesting the settlers’ attacks and obstructing the students’ access to their school and as a result left several civilians suffocated from tear gas inhalation. 02/28/2022: the Israeli occupation positioned  forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards the citizens while they were organizing a celebration to commemorate the Isra and Mi’raj, injuring 8 civilians (including a 6-month-old child and a girl with special needs of sound and gas bombs), and 29 civilians suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas.

Attacks	167	109	276	A total of  276 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of February 2022 ( 167in the West Bank and 109 in the Gaza Strip) which included  40 from raids into Palestinian towns, villages and camps,127  from positions at Military checkpoints, 83 from positions at Military posts and 26 from Naval vessels.
Raids	398	6	404	The Israeli military carried out a total of  404 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of February 2022, including 398 in the West Bank and  6 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (31); Ramallah (69); Jenin (59); Tubas (7)Tulkarem (25); Qalqiliya (24); Nablus (38); Salfit (34); Jericho (15); Bethlehem (42); Hebron (54)Khan Yunis (5) and Rafah (1).
Deportation	1		1	the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to renew the deportation of the citizen: Nasser Al-Hadmi, for a period of 6 months, from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the eastern part of the city of Jerusalem, in addition to imposing restrictions on him not to contact several Jerusalemite figures.
Arrests	465		465	During the month of February 2022, the Israeli military arrested465   Palestinians { in the West Bank). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of 119 Jerusalem,95 Ramallah, 34 Jenin,  6 Tubas, 8 Tulkarm,19 Qalqilya,  31 Nablus,  8 Salfit,  4 Jericho, 51 Bethlehem, 90 Hebron.   Among them: 23 children,  3  female citizens, 3 University Student and 4 Security Force Officer.
Temporary Detention	21	7	28	02/01/2022: the Israeli occupation forces detained 4 citizens during their raid into the city of Nablus: Yazid Al-Helou, Majed Al-Nweer, Asaad Samhan, and Musa Saadeh, and released them. 02/02/2022: the Israeli occupation forces Temporarily detained 2 children: Qusay Fouad Muhammad Hamamrah 17 years old, and Ibek Rashid Al Shaer 17 years old - residents of Husan village, while they were passing in the Muteena area on the main street near the eastern entrance to Husan village and released them. 02/04/2022: the Israeli occupation forces detained the photojournalist - Wahaj Bani Mufleh - residents of the town of Beita during confrontations with the occupation forces with the demonstrators in the village of Beit Dajan, and released him. 02/13/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned at Za'tara Junction detained the citizen: Thaer Shreiteh - a resident of the town of Mazraa al-Gharbiyye in Ramallah governorate, and released him. 02/14/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned at Za'tara Junction detained the citizen: Thaer Shreiteh - a resident of the town of Mazraa al-Gharbiyye in Ramallah governorate, and released him at a later time 02/15/2022: the Israeli occupation forces temporary detained 4 children : Muhammad Rami Sharakah {15 years old}, Muhammad Ezz Abu Nasri {13 years old}, Majd Musa Hassouna {12 years old}, and Ahmed Ashraf Abu Al-Eis {9 years old}during confrontations near Al-Jalazun camp and released them after the Palestinian military liaison intervened  02/16/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned at Za'tara Junction temporarily detained Ahmed Marei {A National Security Forces officer} and released him later after the intervention of the Palestinian military liaison. 02/21/2022: the Israeli occupation forces detained the child: Husam Youssef Tawfiq Abu Bakr, 12 years old, during their raid into Ya`bad town, and released him 02/21/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned at a flying checkpoint near the junction of the "Kedumim" settlement temporarily detained Mutassim Shteiwi {A Police officer}, and released 02/23/2022: the Israeli occupation forces detained the child: Husam Youssef Tawfiq Abu Bakr, 12 years old, during their raid into Ya`bad town, and released him 02/25/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in Artas Al-Gharbiya village {west of Artas village} temporarily detained the citizen: Basem Issa Ibrahim Ayesh 02/25/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned at Tayseer checkpoint temporarily detained Ibrahim Farouk Hussein Faqha (from the Preventive Security force officer), and released him  02/27/2022: the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 2 children Uday Alaa Haddad {15 years old}, and Muhammad Bahaa Haddad {10 years old} in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem and released them later.

Home Demolition	28		28	02/01/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the Igtet area, located between the towns of Al-Dhahirah and Al-Ramadin, demolished 3 houses, and destroyed the electricity network in the area, under the pretext of not having a license then detained a citizen. 02/01/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in Shuafat camp in Jerusalem, demolished the interior walls of the house of the family of the martyr: Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, and closed the house instead of completely demolishing it, as they were unable to carry out the complete demolition due to the presence of adjacent houses. Confrontations also took place with the citizens. while trying to prevent the demolition. 02/01/2022:  the Israeli occupation authorities in the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Ahmed Amer Al Khalis to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext that there was no licensing. 02/03/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces demolished two houses (under construction) owned by the citizens: Muhammad Najada and Khaled Najada, in the Al-Hassa area, near the village of Deir Nizam, under the pretext of not having a permit. 02/11/2022:  the Israeli occupation authorities in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Mahmoud Abu Diab, to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit. 02/13/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the village of Sur Baher forced the families of Dabash and Karaki to demolish their two-floor house themselves, after notifying them earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition process, on the pretext that there was no licensing.02/14/2022: 02/15/2022: the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by Kamel Abu Sneina in the village of Zif, under the pretext of not having a permit. 02/23/2022: The Israeli occupation forces demolished 4 houses owned by the citizens: Youssef Ahmed Al-Jabarin, his brother Muhammad, Othman Muhammad Al-Jabarin, and Khaled Khalil Al-Jabarin, in the Sha’ab Al-Butm area, east of Yatta town. 02/23/2022: the Israeli occupation forces demolished 4 houses belonging to the citizens: Mahmoud Khalil Abu Qubaita, his brother Muhammad, and Ahmed Muhammad Abu Qubaita in Al-Safir area in east Yatta. 02/24/2022: the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house (consisting of two apartments) in the town of Anata, owned by Raed Hajjaj Fhaidat, under the pretext of not having a license. 02/24/2022: the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu Halima in the town of Anata, under the pretext of not having a permit. 02/26/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in Jabal Al-Mukabber neighborhood in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Iyad Ahmed Abu Sneina, to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the Israeli occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit. 02/27/2022: The Israeli occupation authorities in the town of Beit Hanina forced the citizen: Ramzi Shawamreh, to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in case the occupation authorities carry out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit. 02/28/2022: The Israeli occupation authorities in the Wadi Qaddoum area in the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Akram Al-Salaymeh to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the Israeli occupation authorities carried out the demolition. under the pretext of not having a license.
Land Levelling	3		3	02/01/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces in Hammamet El Maleh area in the northern Jordan Valley razed an area of land belonging to the Latin Patriarchate. 02/02/2022: the Israeli occupation forces razed a plot of land used as a parking lot, on the pretext that it was located near the apartheid wall in the village of Nazlat Issa, and owned by: Issam Fares Alloush. 02/03/2022: the Israeli occupation forces razed an area of agricultural land in the Hessa area near Deir Nidham village, in addition to demolishing 2 houses. 02/14/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces handed over military orders to confiscate a large area of the citizens’ lands in the wilderness area of Al-Sawahrah Al-Sharqiya town, for settlement purposes.
Assault on Education Sector	2		2	02/24/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya school fired stun and tear gas canisters towards the school’s students, as a result of which the teacher: Talal Azzam suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas and detained the student: Muhammad Ayman Owais, as he was leaving school, where his colleagues managed to free him from the hands of the Israeli occupation soldiers. 02/27/2022: the Israeli occupation forces stormed the Ain Samiya School, east of the village of Kafr Malik, and photographed it.
Attacks on Religious Sites	22		22	Under the protection of the occupation forces, settlers continue to storm the courtyards of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque, performing Talmudic prayers and provoking the worshipers. 02/16/2022: groups of extremist Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and made provocative tours of its courtyards and facilities. 02/16/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces set up new tents in the squares of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of Hebron. 02/21/2022: : groups of extremist Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and made provocative tours of its courtyards and facilities. 02/21/2022: The occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem carried out excavations and bulldozing works in the courtyard of the Al-Buraq Wall and the Umayyad Palaces area adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Settlement Activity	7		7	02/01/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces began installing 8 residential rooms (caravans) in the Umm Haraz area, east of Khirbet Hamsa al-Fouqa in the northern Jordan Valley on lands owned by citizens of the town of Tammun. 02/03/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities approved a plan to build 1500 new settlement housing units (the plan includes building 500 rooms for Jewish students’ housing, 200 fortified rooms, and several residential towers to be rented for long-term periods, in addition to buildings to serve the public). An area of 150 dunums of land located between the French Hill and the Arab University in Jerusalem, within the occupied territories in 1967. 02/13/2022: the Israeli occupation forces razed a large area of the citizens' agricultural lands located southwest of the village of Asla, with the aim of expanding the "Alfi Mansheh" settlement, and withdrew. 02/14/ 2022, a group of Israeli settlers in the lands of the village of Shufa razed an area of lands planted with olive trees with a length of 1 km owned by citizens of the family: Hamed, which led to the uprooting of about 40 olive trees, in favor of building a settlement road towards the “Ifni” settlement Hefetz". 02/15/2022: the Israeli occupation forces razed an area of agricultural lands in the Dahr Sobh area, located between the towns of Kafr ad-Dik and Bidya, and uprooted about 50 olive trees, with the aim of seizing the land and using it for settlement purposes. 02/21/2022: a group of Israeli settlers, south of Qaryut village, razed an area of ​​about 40 dunums of agricultural lands, including 10 dunums planted with olive trees, in preparation for setting up mobile homes (caravans) for the purpose of establishing a new settlement outpost, and constructing a settlement road linking the settlements Shilo and Ali.

Killings

A total of   6 resident was killed by Israeli forces during the month of February 2022 { in the West Bank and 0in Gaza}:

• 02/08/2022: A special force of the occupation army stormed into the city of Nablus, fired at a private vehicle (with the aim of assassination), which led to the death of 3 civilians: Adham Jamal Abdel Rahim Mabrouka, Mohamed Raed Hassan Al Dakhil, and Ashraf Mohamed Abdel Fattah Mabslat.

Injuries

A total of   218 injuries were reported in the month of February 2022 { 218 Palestinians in the West Bank and  0 in the Gaza Strip).

Arrests

During the month of February 2022, the Israeli military arrested 465 Palestinians { in the West Bank). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of 119 Jerusalem,95 Ramallah, 34 Jenin,  6 Tubas, 8 Tulkarm,19 Qalqilya,  31 Nablus,  8 Salfit,  4 Jericho, 51 Bethlehem, 90 Hebron.  

 

Among them: 23 children,  3  female citizens, 3 University Student and 4 Security Force Officer.

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of February 2022  ,the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed227 checkpoints in February 2022  ( Compared with 213  flying checkpoints in January 2022 with 259  flying checkpoints in December 2021 and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up 227 Flying checkpoints in the month of February 2022 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (9); Ramallah (39); Tubas (3); Jenin (7),  Qalqiliya (23); Nablus (16); Salfit (28); Jericho (13); Bethlehem (55); Hebron (34).

 

The Israeli military carried out a total of  404 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of February 2022, including 398 in the West Bank and  6 in the Gaza Strip. A total of  276 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of February 2022 ( 167in the West Bank and 109 in the Gaza Strip) which included  40 from raids into Palestinian towns, villages and camps,127  from positions at Military checkpoints, 83 from positions at Military posts and 26 from Naval vessels.
