MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 January 2022 to 31 January 2022. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  January  2022

 

  • 01/01/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the entrance to the village of Burqa, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun , and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators for alleged stoning and as a result injuring five citizens, and left 92 civilians suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas.
  • 01/01/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards protesting citizens against the closure of the entrance to the village, for alleged stoning which led to the injury of 4 civilians, and left several others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.
  • 01/03/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses, during their raid into Aqabat Jabr camp in Jericho injuring nine civilians.
  • 01/05/2022: The civilian Mustafa Yassin Filna, 25 years old - a resident of the village of Safa was killed after an Israeli settler ran him over while he was on his way to work near the village of Beit Sira.
  • 01/05/2022:  the citizen: Suleiman Al-Hathlin, 75 years old, a resident of Umm Al-Khair village, east of Yatta, was hospitalized with injuries and fractures of the skull, as a result of being run over by a military vehicle of the Israeli occupation forces.
  • 01/05/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces during their raid into the eastern neighborhoods of Nablus, fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses, and as a result killed the civilian: Bakir Muhammad Musa Hashash, 21 years old, from Balata refugee camp in Nablus.
  • 01/07/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in the town of Beita, fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects and as a result injured 10 civilians, and left 44 civilians suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.
  • 01/07/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the village of Beit Dajan fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun = and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects and as a result injured12 civilians (including a journalist), and wounding 20 A citizen suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas.
  • 01/12/2022: The elderly civilian: Omar Abdul Majeed Asaad, 80 years old - (holds American citizenship) was killed as Israeli occupation forces assaulted him as they detained him in the village of Jaljalia.
  • 01/13/2022: The child: Youssef Ahmed Zayed Abu Eid, 17 years old was wounded after Israeli occupation forces opened fire towards him near the racist separation wall near the town of Bedouin.
  • 01/14/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the village of Beit Dajan fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towardss citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects, wounding 8 civilians (including a journalist), and left 15 others suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas.
  • 01/14/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards the demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village for alleged stoning and as a result injuring 6 civilians and left a number of citizens suffered from suffocation due to inhalation of tear gas.
  • On the morning of 01/17/ 2022, the elderly citizen: Suleiman Al-Hathlin, 75 years old - a resident of Umm al-Khair village, east of Yatta town, died of serious injuries he sustained as a result of being run over by a military vehicle of the Israeli occupation forces (as mentioned in a report on 01.06. 2022).
  • 01/17/2022: The civilian: Faleh Musa Shaker Jaradat, 39 years old - a resident of Sa'ir town, Hebron governorate was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of the "Kfar Etzion" settlement roundabout.
  • 01/18/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the entrance to the town of Beita fired stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens while they were trying to confront a settler’s march that started from the Za’tara Junction checkpoint towards the Hawara checkpoint, as a result of which 28 civilians suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.
  • 01/24/2022: The civilian: : Fahmi Abdel Raouf Ali Hamad, 57 years old died as a result suffocation after inhaling tear gas during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in Qalandia camp.
  • 01/25/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning while demolishing the second floor (consisting of two residential apartments) in a house (consisting of two floors) and as a result injured 9 civilians (including a journalist).
  • 01/28/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the village of Beit Dajan fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects and as a result injured 19 civilians (including a doctor), and left 28 other civilians suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas.
  • 01/28/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village for alleged stoning and as a result injured 4 civilians ( Including a 13-year-old child and a journalist), and left a number of citizens suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.

  • At dawn on 01/04/2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Shadi Ali Asakre during their raid into the village of Asakreh, and released him at a later time.
  • On 01/06/2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Rami Abdel Rahman Yahya, 16 years old, during their raid into Deir Nidham village and released him at a later time.
  • On the evening of 01/08/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained Omar Zaidani in the Mughrabi Gate area in the Old City of Jerusalem, and released him at a later time.
  • On 01/08/2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned at a flying checkpoint near the junction of the “Ma’ali Ephraim” settlement temporarily detained three citizens: Nael Abu al-Asal, Muhammad Abdul Karim al-Turi, and Ali Muaqel (residents of the city of Jericho).
  • On 01/10/2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the child: Ahmed Ayman Abu Taha, 16 years old, at the Military checkpoint on the Green Line south of the Green Line, and released him.
  • On 01/10/2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the child: Omar Maher Abu Hussein, 15, during their raid into Aboud town, and released him.
  • 01/11/2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the military watchtower at the entrance to Hares village temporarily detained the citizen: Jamil Mustafa Muhammad Daoud - residents of Hares village, and released him.
  • 01/11/2022, the Israel occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Moaz Yousef Al-Shikhi in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem, and released him at a later time.
  • At 05:00 in the morning of 01/ 20/ 2022, during their raid into Al-Ram town, the Israeli occupation forces Temporarily detained the two brothers Mansour and Murshid Al-Shawamrah and released them at a later time.
  • On the evening of 01/21/2022, the Israeli occupation forces, present in the vicinity of the racist separation wall near the town of Faqqu'a, temporarily detained Zakir Abdel Rahim Jalgoum and released him at a later time.
  • On 01/27/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the northern Jordan Valley detained the citizen: Muhammad Daraghmeh - a resident of the Ain al-Hilweh area, while he was grazing his cows near line 90, and released him at a later time.
  • On 01/30.2022, the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained four citizens: Mohsen Marei, Saher Ibrahim Maree, Youssef Nidal Assi, and Moamen Jamal Maree during their raid into the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan, and later released them.

  • On 01/10/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem handed a decision to deport the citizen: Muhammad Hamad - residents of the Shuafat neighborhood in Jerusalem, from the West Bank governorates and prevented him from entering them for a period of 6 months.
  • On 01/13/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport two citizens - residents of the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem, to the city of Beit Sahour in the Bethlehem governorate, for a period of one week: Basil Obeidat and Anas Owaisat.
  • On 01/18/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Abdullah Akramawi – a resident of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, from his home for 3 days, and a fine of 500 shekels, as a condition for his release after she had arrested him earlier.
  • At 11:00, the Israeli occupation forces handed the citizen Mahmoud Salhia from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in addition to four other citizens whom they had previously detained, a decision to deport them for a month from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and pledge to pay a fine of 5000 shekels in case of violation.

  • On 01/02/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the village of Sur Baher forced the citizen: Shaima Dabash, to demolish her house herself, after notifying her earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit.
  • On 01/04/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 4 tents used for housing, in addition to 9 tents used for raising livestock, a water tank, a fodder store, iron cutters, feeders and drinkers for livestock, and more than 10 tons of livestock feed owned by them were damaged. For the citizen: Muhammad Ali Nasrallah, his son Mahmoud, and Adel Nasrallah Al-Hroub in the village of Khirbet Ibziq in the northern Jordan Valley.
  • 01/04/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the town of Beit Hanina demolished an 80-square-meter floor of the house of Suhaib Al-Rajabi, under the pretext of not having a permit.
  • On 01/04/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished in the Jabal Al Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem, a residential room owned by the citizen: Atta Jaafra, and it is the remaining room in the house after they demolished it on 12.14.2021, under the pretext of not having a license.
  • On 01/05/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished a 60-square-meter house in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem, owned by: Sultan Helisi, under the pretext of not having a license.
  • On 01/07/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Naim Hamdan Qara’in to personally demolish a room (attached to his house), after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event the occupation authorities carry out the demolition operation. Under the pretext of not having a license.
  • On 01/09/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the village of Sur Baher forced the citizen: Ibrahim Abu Kaf to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the Israeli occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit.
  • On 01/12/2022, the Israeli occupation forces, demolished a house with an area of 100 square meters, in addition to two barracks and two water collection wells, owned by: Muhammad Ayoub Abu Sabha, in Al-Fakhit area, east of Yatta town.
  • On 01/18/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the town of Beit Hanina forced the citizen: Jalal Al-Rajabi to personally demolish his 50-square-meter house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event of the demolition by the occupation authorities under the pretext of not having a license.
  •  On the evening of 01/18/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the Shuafat camp in Jerusalem forced the citizen: Muhammad Ali to personally demolish his house (for the second time in a row), after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the authorities Occupation with the demolition process, on the pretext of not having a license.
  •  On 01/18/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished two houses owned by the Salhia family in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem, and displaced 13 family members in the cold and rainy weather.
  • On 01/25/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished the second level (containing of two residential flats) of the home (consisting of two apartments) owned by the civilian Muhammad Karama under the pretext of not having a license during which 9 civilians were injured.
  • On the evening of 01/30/2022, the Israeli occupation authorities forced the two brothers: Mahmoud and Daoud Shkeirat to demolish their homes (two residential apartments) with an area of ​​80 square meters in the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem, after they had notified them earlier, in order to avoid paying Heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carry out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a permit.
  • On 01/30/2022,  the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 220-square-meter house (under construction), owned by: Ismail Ahmed Mahmoud Talib, under the pretext of not having a license.
  • On 01/31/2022,  the Israeli occupation authorities in the village of Al-Isawiya forced the two brothers: Ahmed and Abdul Rahman Obeid to demolish their homes (under construction), after notifying them earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext

  • On 01/05/ 2021, the Local Committee for Planning and Building of the Israeli Occupation Municipality in the city of Jerusalem approved plans to build 3,557 new settlement housing units (including 1,465 housing units between the settlements of “Givat Hamatos” and “Har Homa” to connect them and cut off the connection between the neighborhoods of the city of Jerusalem and the city of Bethlehem, and 2,092 housing units on the outskirts of the French Hill in the city of Jerusalem, within the occupied territories in 1967.
  • On 01/10/2022, a group of Israeli settlers razed an area estimated at 50 dunums of the citizens' lands belonging to the town of Hawara and the villages of Burin and Asira al-Qibliya, located near the settlement of "Yitzhar", in order to expand the settlement.
  • 01/10/2022, the Israeli occupation forces razed, an area of 1.5 donums of agricultural land owned by: Murad Aref Bashir, east of Jinsafut village with the aim of expanding the settlement of "Emmanuel".
  • On 01/24/2022, the Israeli occupation forces placed several mobile homes (caravans) on the ruins of the evacuated “Homish” settlement, located south of the town of Silat Al Dhaher.

During the month of January 2022, the Israeli military arrested 476 Palestinians {470 in the West Bank and  6 in the Gaza Strip). Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of January 2022,the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. Hebron:

  • 01/27/2022: a group of Israeli settlers positioned in the Wadi Al-Hussain area near the settlement of Kiryat Arba, which is located east of Hebron city, attacked a number of citizens and children, while playing with snowballs, during which the citizens managed to confront the settlers, then the Israeli occupation forces intervened and evacuated the settlers from the place.
  • 01/29/2022: a group of Israeli settlers near the village of Khirbet Zanouta, south of the town of Al Dhaheriya, threw stones at a number of citizens while they were grazing sheep on pastoral lands.

 

Closure of Crossing Points
