WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On January 5th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound, which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
(iii) On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Flying Checkpoints

At 20:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Bir Nabala then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Hizma village, stormed and searched two homes then withdrew at 03:15.
(ii) At 02:20, Israeli forces raided Abu Dis.
(iii) At 04:00, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya Camp, stormed several homes then withdrew at 06:50.

Deportation

On January 5th 2016, Israeli forces served a Military Order to Yusef Mustafa Ahmad Mukhimer {A resident of Shu’fat camp in Jerusalem} preventing him from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem for a period of 6 months.

Attack

At 14:40, Israeli forces positioned near Bab Al-Amoud area in the old city of Jerusalem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning during their participation in funerals of those killed by Israeli forces {After the Israeli Military released the corpses}.

Detention

(i) At 15:45, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Biddu detained Amjad Omar Sa’id Mansour 9A resident of Biddu) for alleged stoning.
(ii) At dawn on January 6th 2015, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Shiekh Jarrah neighbourhood detained two residents: Samer Abu Aisheh and Hijazi Abu Subieh as they were participating in a demonstration in front of the International Red Cross Headquarters.

Confiscation of Property

At 13:00, Israeli forces stormed Wadi Al-Juz neighbourhood and confiscated a Telephone and several electronic equipment from the home of Ashraf Alwan for allegedly refusing to pay his taxes.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Sawahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) . On October 3rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement and leading to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks.
(iii) Since November 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Sinjil and the east entrance of Al-Mughier village with cement blocks.
(iv) At 18:50 on December 4th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Abboud with cement blocks.
(v) On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Abboud then searched residents and vehicles until 10:50.
(ii) At 09:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah Bridge located in North Bir Ziet then searched residents and vehicles until 10:55.
(iii) At 18:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Beit Ur Al-Tahta and Beit Ur Al-Foqa then searched residents and vehicles until 21:40.
(iv) At 21:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Al-Mughier village, assaulted Muhanad Salawdah (A resident of Duma village in Nablus district) and as a result left him hospitalised with contusions.
(v) At 22:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ras Kar Kar village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.
(vi) At 22:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Um Safaa village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.

Raid

(i) At 05:30 on January 5th 2016, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ni’meh village and detained a resident.
(ii) At 13:25, Israeli forces raided Kharbathat Bani Harith village, stormed and searched a home and a Bake shop and summoned Anas Mohammad Injas to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iii) At 21:45, Israeli forces raided Turmus’aya until 21:55.

Attack

At 09:30, Israeli forces positioned near Beituniya fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

(i) At 01:25 on January 5th 2016, Israeli forces detained Ahmad Adel Id’is during their raid into Al-Bireh city as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Firas Yusef Mohammad Sayis in Kafr Ni’meh village.

Physical Assault

At 20:00, Israeli forces positioned at Al-Mahkama checkpoint located near “Bet El” settlement in North Al-Bireh city assaulted Ramzi Faysal Shawamrah (A resident of Ramallah City) as he was driving his rental vehicle then temporarily detained him and released him at 22:40.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Flying Checkpoints

At 13:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Arraba village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 14:40.

Raid

At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Jenin city and detained a residents after storming and searching his home then withdrew at 05:10.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ishaq Abdel-Rahman Jarbou’ in Jenin.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Raid

At 02:20, Israeli forces raided Tamoun, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and detained a resident then withdrew at 03:20.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Satti Abdel-Azziz Sawafta in Tamoun.

TULKAREM

Closure of Checkpoints

At 08:20, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 13:00.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 15:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Jabarat village then searched residents and vehicles until 16:30.
(ii) At 23:20, Israeli force set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Lid then searched residents and vehicles until 02:00.

Raid

(i) At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Quffin village, stormed a home owned by Moath Shihadeh Harshat and confiscated a computer.
(ii) At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem until 03:45.

Closure of Wall Gates

At 08:00, Israeli forces closed wall gates (609) and (623) in Attil and Deir Al-Ghusoun and prevented residents and labourers from entering reaching their places of work and agricultural land behind the wall gate

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Raid

At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Azzun, stormed and searched several homes, detained two residents and temporarily detained Ahmad Assaf Badran (A Palestinian Police Officer) and released him later then withdrew at 04:40.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Bassam Nabeel Amran and Ibrahim Abdallah Amran in Azzun.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya, the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Closure of Checkpoints

At 16:15, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic then temporarily detained Arraf Hanini (Head of the Village Council) and released him later.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Shave Shomrin” settlement junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 17:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Aqraba and Osrin village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 02:55, Israeli forces raided Nablus city until 04:10.
(ii) At 04:20, Israeli forces raided Qussin village and detained a resident after storming and searching his home.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ahmad Ayyed Abd-Rabbo in Qussin village.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian, which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

At 06:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout and detained a resident.

Raid

At 15:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik until 16:00.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Sameh Hussien Salah in Deir Ballout.

Settlers Violence

At 10:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military forces stormed the entrance of Deir Ballout then withdrew at 16:00.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:35 and again at 16:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at road (90) junction near New’meh village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 17:05.
(ii) At 10:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the South entrance of Jericho and temporarily detained Tariq Ahmad Sqout (National Security Force Officer then released him at 12:05.

Raid

(i) At 12:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Jiftlik village, installed a checkpoint and then stormed and searched several homes.
(ii) At 23:45, Israeli forces raided Fasayil village,detained 2 residents then withdrew at 02:25

Detention

Israeli forces detained Kamal Ishtin Shalafat and Mahdi Kamal Shalafat in Fasayil village.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(vii) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(viii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(ix) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Dar Salah village then searched residents and vehicles until 11:10.
(ii) At 09:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Nashash area junction located at the south entrance of Bethlehem then searched residents and vehicles until 11:30.
(iii) At 11:10 and again at 21:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicles until 22:30.
(iv) At 12:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Jallah then searched residents and vehicles until 13:30.

Raid

(i) At 17:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Jallah, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched a building and a restaurant and confiscated surveillance camera footage.
(ii) At 01:35, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, stormed and searched several homes and detained a child.

Killings

At 09:00, Ahmad Yunis Kawazbah (17 years old){A resident of Sa’ir} was killed after Israeli forces positioned near “Kafr Itsiyon” settlement junction opened fire towards him for allegedly stabbing a Israeli settler {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.

Detention

(i) At 16:40,Israeli forces positioned near “Kafr Itsiyon” settlement junction detained Ali Mohammad Rasras (A resident of Al-Fuwar camp in Hebron)
(ii) Israeli forces detained Ahmad Salti Ahmad Thawabteh (16 years old) in Beit Fajjar.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the two bypass roads leading east Yatta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma .
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.

Flying Checkpoints

At 18:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near the entrance of Khilat Al-Miyah village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 01:20 on January 5th 2016, Israeli forces raided Hebron, detained a resident and summoned Khalil Waleed Al-Qameeri to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(ii) At 01:20 on January 5th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beit Ummar, detained 2 children and again at 16:30 raided Beit Ummar and temporarily seized a agricultural tractor owned by Anwar Mohammad Abu Mariya for allegedly being parked near a building {under construction} for allegedly being built without licence and ordered the owner to remove all construction material and tools in order to give back the owner its tractor and also removed a water tank truck owned by Yasser Al-Barghagith and Ghassan Baraghith.
(iii) At 14:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Fa’s area located in South Hebron, stormed and searched several merchant shops and confiscated surveillance camera footage.
(iv) At 01:15, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im and detained two residents.
(v) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Dura and detained a resident.
(vi) At 02:40, Israeli forces raided Halhoul, stormed a home and detained a resident. Then withdrew at 06:00.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Mahran Azzam Dandis in Hebron.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Omari Riyad Arra (16 years old) and Khaled Khader Al-Ja’bari (17 years old) in Beit Ummar.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Moath Harhashah and Ibrahim Harhashah in Bani Na’im.
(iv) Israeli forces detained Khalil Riyad Namurah in Dura.
(v) Israeli forces detained Bassel Azmi Al-Baba in Halhoul.

Temporary Detention

(i) At 17:15, Israeli forces positioned in the old city of Hebron temporarily detained Nabil Abdel Rahman Abu Rajab (16 years old) then released him at 18:00.
(ii) At 17:35, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ibrahimi mosque in the old city of Hebron temporarily detained Siham Fawzi Al-Fakhouri then released him at 17:50.
(iii) At 18:30, Israeli forces positioned at Al-Arpoub cam temporarily detained Obadah Hussien Al-, Mazin (13 years old) and Omar Khaled Al-Sabatin (13 years old) then released him at 19:30.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
• Israeli forces broke the cease-fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Central Gaza.
• Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease-fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 19:20, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya and as a result set fire to and destroyed the fishing boat.

Detention

At 12:00, Israeli forces positioned at Beit Hanoun-Erez Crossing detained Maher Abdel-Fatah Mashtihi (A merchant).

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack

On the evening of January 5th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several residents on agricultural land in east Al-Maghazi camp.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
