WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On January 6th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound, which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
  • On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al- Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Raid
  • At 18:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, clashed with several residents and as a result injured Ahmad Abu Al-Humus {Critically Injured} leaving hospitalised.
Detention
  • At dawn on January 6th 2016, Israeli forces positioned in Jerusalem detained Ibrahim Ahmad Shakarneh (A resident of Nihalin village in Bethlehem).
  • Israeli forces detained two residents: Zhier Munthir Tawfiq Basat (15 years old) and Ali Bahij Yusef Basat (15 years old) in Al-Eizariya.
Temporary Detention
  • At 10:10, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Aqsa mosque compound temporarily detained Nazal Al-Rajabi (A resident of the old city of Jerusalem) as he was attempting to prevent Israeli settlers from storming Al-Aqsa mosque compound then released him later.
  • At 18:30, Israeli forces positioned near “Malee Adumin” temporarily detained Thaer Bassam Sabah (A resident of Abu Dis) then released him at 18:50.
House Demolition
  • At 08:00, Israeli forces positioned near Abu Nawar Al-Badawi located in Al-Baba hill near east Al-Eizariya demolished five residential Barracks and a livestock den owned by Al-Jahalin family.
Assaults on Property
  • At 08:30, a group of Israeli settlers under theprotection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages.
  • On October 3rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement and leading to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks.
  • Since November 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Sinjil and the east entrance of Al-Mughier village with cement blocks.
  • At 18:50 on December 4th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Abboud with cement blocks.
  • On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al- Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 14:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud Village Bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 16:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah bridge located in North Bir Ziet then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 00:45, Israeli forces raided Beit Rima , detained a resident then withdrew at 03:35.
  • At 03:35, Israeli forces raided Silwad, stormed several homes, detained three residents and confiscated the Identification card of Husam Mohammad Hamad then withdrew at 05:15.
Attack
  • At 09:30, Israeli forces positioned near Beituniya fired rubber coated steel bullets; stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and detained a child.
  • At 10:10, Israeli forces positioned near “Pesagout” settlement located in east Al-Bireh city fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Adallah Al-Teibi (15 years old)
  • Israeli forces detained Akram Al-Barghouthi in Beit Rima.
  • Israeli forces detained three residents: Salah Anwar Saleem Hamad, Ibrahim Nassar Hamad and Mohammad Adnan Hamad in Silwad.
Settlers Violence
  • At 17:15, a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Ras Kar Kar village junction stoned residents and vehicles.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
  • Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 21:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Arraba village junction then searched residents and vehicles, detained 2 residents including a National Security Force Officer and also smashed the windshield of a vehicle owned by Majed Nazal Attarat then withdrew at 23:00.
Raid
  • On the evening of January 6th 2016, Israeli forces raided Annin village and clashed with several residents.
Detention
  • At 03:10 on January 6th 2016, Israeli forces detained two residents: Mahmoud Hussien Ibrahim Al-Awartani (A National Security Force Officer) and Nour Mohammad Sa’id Al-Safouri.
  • Israeli forces detained Muhanad Hakam Saleem Amarneh and Majed Nazal Attarat (Both residents of Yabad).

TUBAS

Raid
  • At 16:05, Israeli forces raided Kardalah village and served a military order for the demolition of a Water Well (under construction) with in a 7-day period.
  • At 20:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Sbatin area in Wadi Al-Far’a then surveyed the area.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 08:20, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 13:00.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 20:40, Israeli forces set up two checkpoints at the entrances of Beit Lid and Ramin village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:10.
Raid
  • At 16:45, Israeli forces raided Zieta.
Detention
  • At 01:20 on January 6th 2015, Israeli forces detained Ihsan Mohammad Ghazi Hattab during their raid into Tulkarem as mentioned in the previous report.
  • At 16:20, Israeli forces detained Anas Mohammad Ameen Shiekh Ali (A resident of Abbush village) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • At 08:00, Israeli forces closed wall gates (609) and (623) in Attil and Deir Al-Ghusoun and prevented residents and labourers from entering reaching their places of work and agricultural land behind the wall gate.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 11:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 13:00.
  • At 15:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun then searched residents and vehicles.
Detention
  • At 02:45 on January 6th 2016, Israeli forces detained Saleem Darrar Radwan during their raid into Azzun.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  • At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  • On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  • At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
Military Checkpoints
  • At 18:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 19:55.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 11:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Beita junction then searched residents and vehicles until 12:20.
Raid
  • At 22:00 on January 5th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Labban Al-Sharqiya, stormed the home of Abdel-Hadi Ahmad Owis (Head of the local village council) and the home of Rajja Owies and warned them against continued stoning of children towards Israeli Settler vehicle passing along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus.
  • At 02:40 on January 6th 2016, Israeli forces raided Awarta village and detained a resident.
  • At 11:05, Israeli forces raided Huwwara, occupied several homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts then withdrew at 12:45.
  • At 14:30, Israeli forces raided Aqraba village and confiscated an Agricultural tractor owned by Billal Hamad as he was fixing it near his agricultural land.
  • At 14:30, Israeli forces raided Sarah village and set up a checkpoint then clashed with several residents then withdrew at 15:15.
  • At 15:35, Israeli forces raided Qussin village until 16:30.
  • At 21:15, Israeli forces raided the area located between Talouza and Al- Bithan until 22:30.
Detention

Israeli forces detained Mu’tasim Nabeel Abdel-Aziz Awad in Awarta village.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian, which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 09:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout then searched residents and vehicles until 12:15.
  • At 14:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Kafr Al- Dik then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 20:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qarwat Bani Hassan then searched residents and vehicles until 21:15.
  • At 20:00, Israeli forces set up three checkpoints at the entrances of Kafil Harris, Deir Istiya and Harris village then prevented residents from entering or exiting the area until 23:00.
Raid
  • At 11:40, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik, stormed the local village council, temporarily detained several workers and questioned them about Mohammad Zahran (who was killed by Israeli forces) then once again clashed with several residents and withdrew at 13:35.
  • At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Deir Istiya, stormed two homes, temporarily detained Khaled Juhad Mansour then released him after questioning by Israeli Intelligence officers until 23:10.
  • At 01:15, Israeli forces raided Bidya until 06:00.
Detention
  • At 16:30, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Bar’a Awad Odeh (A resident of Izbit Salman village in Qalqiliya).
Settlers Violence
  • At 20:00, an Israeli settler positioned near the west entrance of Dier Istiya opened fire towards several residents for alleged firebombing attack towards his vehicle.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 08:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at road (90) junction near New’meh village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 08:30.
Detention
  • At 19:05, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby Bridge detained Anas Akaf Waheed Hamdallah (A resident of Tulkarem) as he was returning from Jordan.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
  • Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
  • Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  • Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
  • Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
  • Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
  • On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
  • Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 16:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Kafr Itsiyon settlement junction located along the main road connecting Bethlehem and Hebron and summoned Ahmad Mahmoud Salah (A resident of Al-Khadr) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
Raid
  • At 12:25, Israeli forces raided Nihalin village until 13:45.
  • At 15:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Jallah and summoned Osama Othman to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  • At 18:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Asakrah village until 19:30.
  • At 19:45, Israeli forces raided Husan village and clashed with several residents.
  • At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem, then stormed and searched a home, detained a resident then withdrew at 05:35.
Attack
  • At 13:45, Israeli forces positioned near the west entrance of Taqou’ fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
  • At 15:50, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Khader fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At 21:15, Israeli forces positioned at Container checkpoint detained Jamal Hussien Yussef Sawalha.
  • Israeli forces detained Mus’ab Mahmoud Hamadah in Al-Duhisheh camp.
Destruction of Property
  • At dawn on January 6th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Al- Aydeh camp in North Bethlehem and demolished a portion of a concrete fence located between the local Cemetery and a refugee camp.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the two bypass roads leading east Yatta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma .
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron and temporarily detained five teachers: Mohammad Nu’man Atawneh, Fawaz Ahmad Al-Atawneh, Radi Radwan Al-Atwneh, Issam Harbi Assafrah and Yusef Kamal Assafrah then released them at 10:00.
(ii) At 01:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ithna then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 10:40, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im and detained two residents.
(ii) At 12:00, Israeli forces raided Hebron until 12:20.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ahmad Suliman Manasrah and Mohammad Suliman Manasrah in Bani Na’im.

Attack

(i) At 16:00, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Beit Awwa fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 17:00, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Beit Awwa fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlement Activities

On January 6th 2016, Israeli Authorities approved tenders for the confiscation of 40 dunum along road (60) near Al-Aroub camp leading to “Ghush Itsiyon” settlement for the purpose of settlement expansion in southern Hebron.

GAZA STRIP

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
