The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 August 2018 to August 31 2018. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

Analysis of Events
Killings
A total of 14 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of August 2018 {1 in the West Bank and 13 in Gaza}:
- August 3rd 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Gaza city during the march of return and as a result killed Ahmad Yahya Attallah Yaghi, injured 21 residents and left 30 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
- August 3rd 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Al-Buriej camp during the march of return and as a result killed Moath Ziyad Ibrahim Al-Suri {15 years old} {A resident of Al-Nassirat camp}, injured 16 residents and left 24 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
- August 5th 2018: The child Ahmad Jihad Al-Ayadi {17 years old} {A resident of Al-Maghazi camp} died of serious injuries sustained after Israeli forces opened fire towards several residents during demonstrations in east Al-Buriej camp in Central Gaza on March 30th 2018.
- August 7th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line launched tank artillery shells and opened fire towards Palestinian gunmen locations in North West Beit Lahiya town and as a result killed 2 Palestinian gunmen: Abdel-Hafith Mohammad Abdel-Hafith Al-Silwai {23 years old} and Ahmad Abdallah Jum'a Murjan {23 years old}.
- August 8th 2018: Israeli Military aircraft's launched a missile towards a vehicle carrying 2 Palestinian gunmen travelling in Mashra’ou Amar area located in south west Beit Lahiya town and as a result killed Ali Yusef Mohammad Al-Ghandour {31 years old}{A resident of Jabaliya camp} and injured Mashra’ou Amar.
- August 9th 2018: Israeli aircraft's launched 1 missiles towards a home located in Al-Ghafouri area of Deir Al-Balah city and as a result killed 2 residents {including a 9 month pregnant Woman and her 18 month old daughter}: Enas Mohammad Khamash {23 years old} and her daughter Bayan {18 months old}. And left her husband: Mohammad Khamash critically injured.
- August 10th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Rafah city participating in the right of return march and as a result killed 3 residents: Abdallah Sabri Attiya Al-Qattiti {22 years old}{A resident of Rafah city}, Ali Sa'ed Ali Al-Aloul {55 years old}{A resident of Rafah city} and Ahmad Jamal Suliman Abu Louli {40 years old}{A resident of Rafah city},17 injured residents {including 2 journalist and 2 critically injured residents} and left 46 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
- August 12th 2018: Wissam Yusef Hijazi {30 years old}{A resident of Bani Suhayla town} died of serious injuries sustained after Israeli forces opened fire towards him during demonstrations in east Abbassan town in Khan Yunis city on May 14th 2018.
- August 17th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents participating in the march the Right of Return demonstrations east Al-Buriej camp and as a result killed Kareem Ahmad Ali Fatayir {28 years old} {A resident of Deir Al-Balah city}, injured 19 residents and left 60 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
- August 17th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents participating in the march the Right of Return demonstrations in east Rafah city and as a result killed Sa'di Akram Mohammad Abu Mu'ammar {27 years old} {A resident of Rafah city}, injured 8 residents and left 40 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.:

Arrests
During the month of August 2018, the Israeli military arrested 382 Palestinians (368 in the West Bank and 14 in the Gaza Strip). Closure
Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of August 2018 the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).
The Israeli military installed 281 flying checkpoints in August 2018 (compared with 332 in July and 279 in June 2018) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

Attacks on residential areas in West Bank districts
Home Demolition
During the month of August 2018, the Israeli military demolished 7 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following:
- August 6th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Ahmad Ibrahim Samara {located within the borders of Bet Al-Baraka area located near Al-Arrub camp} which was taken over by a settler association and sealed off another home with red-wax in order to prevent residents from attempting to thwart the demolition.
- August 7th 2018: Israeli forces demolished 2 apartments {including a penthouse floor} owned by Suliman Al-Muhtasib and Samer Al-Muhtasib in Shu'fat neighborhood in Jerusalem city for alleged being built without a license.
- August 7th 2018: Israeli authorities forced Bassam Mahmoud Obiyat to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city and imposed a hefty financial penalty for allegedly being built without a license.
- August 14th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Deir Dibwan town and demolished a home owned by Abdel-Hafith Darwish for allegedly being built without a license because of its location in Area C {which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control}.
- August 15th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a home {2 floors-under construction} owned by Nader Jamil Nasr Abu Rayalat in Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license.
- August 20th 2018: Israeli forces escorting a group of Israeli settlers stormed Qawaweis area located in east Yatta town and demolished a residential tent owned by Yusef Ayoub Abu Arram then confiscated construction material and wood used to construct a room then proceeded to assault Basil Mohammad Abu Arram and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- August 28th 2018: Israeli forces demolished the family home of Mohammad Tariq Dar Yusef during their raid into Kobar village.

Jerusalem:
- August 7th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a merchant shop owned by Hussein Abu Sukar in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
- August 29th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a print shop owned by Iz Al-Din Samrin in Ein Al-Louzat area in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city.
- August 29th 2018: Israeli forces demolished part of a concrete fence surrounding the home of Mohammad Taha Salhout in Um Tuba village.
Tubas:
- August 3rd 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Khirbeit Samra area in the North Jordan valley damaged home furniture after storming the home of Yasser Yunis Abu Arram.
- August 6th 2018: Israeli forces removed 4 families from their homes in Khirbeit Yarza village located in the North Jordan valley from 16:00 on August 7th 2018 until 06:00 August 7th 2018 in order to conduct military excises.
- August 9th 2018: Israeli forces removed 4 families from their homes in Khirbit Yarza village located in the North Jordan valley {based on a prior notification} from 16:00 on August 9th 2018 until 06:00 on August 10th 2018 for alleged military training in the area.
- August 14th 2018: Israeli military forces removed 4 families from their homes in Khibeit Yarza village located in the North Jordan valley area from 16:00 on August 14th 2018 until 06:00 on August 15th 2018 for alleged Military training in the area.
- August 17th 2018: Israeli forces halted construction on a water well owned by Mohammad Fayez Daraghma located in Khirbeit Al-Deir area located in the North Jordan valley for allegedly being built without a license.
Nablus:
- August 1st 2018: Israeli forces prevented employees from Beita town municipality from installing an electrical network in Jabal Subieh area of Beita town, temporarily detained the driver transporting the employees and the mayor of Beita town and took them to Huwara military base then released them at a later time.
- August 7th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ghassan Nayef Thuqan {An ex- Detainee} during their raid into Nablus city.
Qalqiliya:
- August 28th 2018: Israeli forces prevented residents of Kafr Qaddum village from reaching their agricultural land located near "Qadumim" settlement.
Salfit:
- August 6th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Kafr Al-Dik town located south of "Alei Zahav" settlement and leveled a plot of land owned by Ahmad Shihadeh Naji.
Jericho:
- August 9th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a merchant shop in Marj Al-Naja village for allegedly being built without a license.
Hebron:
- August 1st 2018: Israeli forces leveled 12 dunums of land currently extended to Al-Arrub camp cemetery.
- August 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned in Suq Al-Libban area located in the old city of Hebron halted rehabilitation work by {The Reconstruction committee of the old city of Hebron} on a home owned by Ishaq Maharmat for allegedly not receiving approval from Israeli Authorities.
Gaza:
- August 9th 2018: Israeli airstrikes towards a building {Sa'ed Al-Mashal Cultural Center} {consisting of 5 floors} located in west Gaza city and as a result destroyed the building.
Central Gaza:
- August 10th 2018: Israeli forces damaged a home after launching tank artillery shells towards Palestinian Gunmen locations in east Al-Buriej camp.
Confiscation of Property:
Jerusalem:
- August 4th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated personal belongings owned by Awadallah Hassan Odah Al-Mazar'a during their raid into Jabal Al-Bab Bedouin community located in east Al-Eizariya town.
- August 5th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 7500 NIS after storming and searching the home of Susan Ismail Abu Ghanam as they detained her during their raid into Atur neighborhood in Jerusalem city.
- August 28th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a computer from the home of Hisham Jamil Abu Ziyad during their raid into Al-Eizariya town.
- August 28th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated an Herb cutting machine from an Employee at Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem.
Ramallah & Al-Bireh:
- August 13th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ayoub Mohammad Al-Qurdi after detaining him during their raid into Beit Ur At-Tahta.
- August 14th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Salah Atiya during their raid into Khirbithat Al-Misbah village.
- August 28th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Mohammad Abdallah Abu Al-Haj after detaining him during their raid into Kobar village.
Jenin:
- August 2nd 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Adnan Hamarshat during their raid into Ya'bad town.
Tubas:
- August 17th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a bulldozer owned by Mohammad Fayez Daraghma as he was working on the construction of a water well in Khirbeit Al-Deir area located in the North Jordan valley.
Tulkarem:
- August 29th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a computer owned by Thabet Jawad Abdel-Kareem Obied as they detained him during their raid into Tulkarem city.
Nablus:
- August 7th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ghassan Nayef Thuqan {An ex- Detainee} during their raid into Nablus city.
- August 27th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated printing equipment after storming , searching then closing down a print shop owned by Ghassan Thuqaan during their raid into Nablus city.
Bethlehem:
- August 19th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 3 computers from the family home of Uday Izzat Abdallah Al-Amour {16 years old} during their raid into Teqou' town.
Hebron:
- August 2nd 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Jallal Ahmad Abdel-Hameed Baraghith during their raid into Beit Ummar town.
- August 14th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated several equipment after storming and searching a steel mill owned by Abu Yacoub during their raid into Ruq'a area located in Yatta town.
- August 20th 2018: Israeli forces escorting a group of Israeli settlers in Qawaweis area located in east Yatta town confiscated construction material and wood used to construct a room owned by Yusef Ayoub Abu Arram as they demolished his tent {which used as a shelter by his family}.
- August 25th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated construction material owned by Musa Abu Arram in Qawawis area located in east Yatta town.
- August 26th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Jamal Othman Mohammad Karamat after detaining him during their raid into Hebron city.
North Gaza:
- August 12th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat off the shores Al-Sudaniya area located in West Beit Lahiya town.
- August 16th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boats after detaining 4 fishermen off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in West Beit Lahiya town.
- August 26th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat after opening fire towards it off the shores of Al-Waha area located in North West Beit Lahiya town.
Settlement Activities:
- August 1st 2018: Israeli forces stormed Beit Ta'mar village and leveled a plot of land in the area between "Nokdim" and "Eldad" settlements for the purpose of constricting a park on approximately 100 dunums of land in the area.
- August 1st 2018: Israeli Authorities opened a Jewish Heritage Center in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city on property owned by a Palestinian family: Abu Nab which was seized by Israeli settlers in 2015.
- August 4th 2018: Israeli forces leveled a plot of land in Al-Khadr town located between "Itsiyon" and "Alon Shivot" settlements in order to implement the construction of 1700 settlement units and a new settlement to be constructed in the next 5 years.
- August 15th 2018: Israeli forces constructed a road in Khilat Hamad area located near "Migola" settlement which connects the settlement with the main road and several other settlement outposts in the area.
- August 20th 2018: Israeli authorities approved the construction of 106 settlement units in "Efrata" settlement which is built on Palestinian owned land in Al-Khader town and Irtas village on land occupied in 1967.
- August 21st 2018: Israeli authorities approved tenders for the construction of 650 settlement units and a new settlement {which include 296 units which were approved at an earlier time} in "Bet El" settlement located in North Al-Bireh city on Palestinian owned land occupied in 1967.
- August 22nd 2018: The Israeli occupation authorities approved plans at various stages to build more than 1,000 settlement units (370 settlement units in the Adam settlement in Jerusalem district and 55 settlement units in the Beit El settlement in Ramallah district) , 200 settlement units in the colony of "Afrim" in Jericho district, 30 settlement units in the colony "Ataniel" in Hebron, in addition to hundreds of units in the settlements of "Alfei Menchi" in the province of Qalqilya, and "Beit Aryeh" Ramallah district), within the territories occupied in 1967.

Jerusalem:
- August 1st 2018: Israeli Authorities opened a Jewish Heritage Center in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city on property owned by a Palestinian family: Abu Nab which was seized by Israeli settlers in 2015.
- August 3rd 2018: a Israeli settlers positioned near a Settlement outpost near Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in Jerusalem city set fire to 3 Palestinian owned vehicles.
- August 19th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Eisawiya village, slashed the tires of 15 vehicles and spray painted racist graffiti on the walls of a home.
- August 29th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers assaulted Murad Samrin as he was on duty driving a bus owned by Egged Bus Company in Jerusalem city and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
Ramallah &Al-Bireh:
- August 2nd 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Ein Yabroud village and slashed the tires of 10 vehicles and spray painted anti Arab and racist graffiti on the vehicles.
- August 3rd 2018: Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Um Safa village during which Israeli forces intervened after local residents attempted to prevent the attack, temporarily detained a resident then released him at a later time
- August 6th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the Bedouin community located near Al-Taybeh town junction and assaulted Ali Mohammad Musa Malihat and his sons during which Israeli forces detained his 4 sons as they attempted to prevent the assault on their father.
- August 16th 2018: Israeli settlers raided Al-Taybeh town and stole several red colored bricks then withdrew at 24:00.
- August 19th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Ras Kar Kar village then broke the limbs and uprooted 70 Olive trees owned by Khalid Samhan and spray painted racist graffiti on a water well located in the area.
- August 19th 2018: group of Israeli settlers positioned near the entrance of Ras Kar Kar village began leveling agricultural land owned by Abu Fakhidat, Nofal and Samhan families located near the Military watch tower located at the village entrance then withdrew at 15:30.
- August 27th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Sinjil village , attacked a home located along the main road connecting Nablus and Ramallah, then slashed the tires of 15 vehicles and spray painted anti-Arab and racist slogans on the vehicles.
- August 28th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military forces stormed Ras Kar Kar village and leveled a plot of land.
- August 30th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Jabal Al-Risan area located in west Ras Kar Kar village and planted 200 Olive trees on land residential land which is under threat of confiscation by the Israeli Military.
Jenin:
- August 17th 2018: group of Israeli settlers from "Movo Dotan" settlement leveled a plot of agricultural land in Araba town and as a result uprooted 300 Olive trees owned by Mahmoud Al-Dahidi and his sons Mohammad , Nathmi and Ali {All residents of Arraba town}.
- August 24th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Silat Al-Thaher town, stoned several vehicles and residents travelling along the main road connecting Jenin and Nablus.
Nablus:
- August 7th 2018: a group of Israeli settler stormed agricultural land in Beit Furiq town and opened random fire in the area.
- August 8th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Bi’r Assira area located in south Assira Al-Qibliya village and built a shed on a plot of land owned by Issa Suliman Makhlouf and also built another shed in Bi’r Othamn area.
- August 13th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Orif village and set fire to agricultural land.
- August 16th 2018: Israeli settlers positioned along the bypass road near "Yitshar" settlement, stoned vehicles passing along the road then stormed the area between Assira Al-Qibliya and Madma village and set fire a tractor owned by Ali Issa Suliman Makhlouf {A resident Assira Al-Qibliya village}
- August 19th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the by pass road near "Yitshar" settlement stoned vehicles travelling along the bypass road and as a result shattered a vehicles windshield and left 4 residents { 2 children} hospitalized with cuts and contusions.
- August 21st 2018: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at the bypass road near "Yitshar" settlement and stoned residents and vehicles.
- August 21st 2018: a group of Israeli settlers positioned in Ein Buis village slashed the tires of a vehicle owned by Nihad Najeh Abdel-Fattah Sabah and spray painted racist graffiti on the vehicle.
- August 23rd 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Khilat Rajih area located near Rujieb village and installed a tent under the protection of the Israeli military.
- August 23rd 2018: Israeli forces from "Yitshar" settlement stormed Orif village and smashed the windows and slashed the tires of 3 vehicles owned by Ziyad Abdel-Azziz Shihadeh, Mahmoud Mahfouth Shihadeh and Bakr Nabil Shihadeh.
- August 24th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Al-Wadi area located in west Al-Sawiya village and chopped off the limbs of approximately 30 Olive trees owned by Hassan Mahmoud Ahmad.
- August 27th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stormed Orif village and broke the windows of a home owned by Nihad Najah Abdel-Fattah.
- August 29th 2018: group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land located in Al-Khawanif area located in Qaryut village which is located between "Shilo" and "Eli" settlements and placed 5 mobile homes in an attempt to create a new settlement outpost.
Qalqiliya:
- August 7th 2018: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road in Jinsafut village ran over Jihad Mahmoud Bashir and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions during which Israeli forces raided the village and confiscated surveillance camera footage from merchants shops near the area of the incident.
- August 8th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed near Wadi Wana road and stoned residents and vehicles.
Salfit:
- August 15th 2018: An Israeli Settler Security Guard in "Arail" settlement assaulted Abdel-Kareem Yusef Hamudah Yusef {A resident of Kafil Harris} as he was heading to his agricultural land located near the settlement and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- August 30th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Jabal Al-Malaib area located in Bruqin town then surveyed and took photographs of the area.
- August 31st 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Kafil Harris town.
Hebron:
- August 10th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Tel Al-Rumayda neighborhood in the old city of Hebron and assaulted a group "Youth agianst settlements" and prevented them from conducting volunteer work to fix and renovate several homes then proceeded to assault several homes owned by the family of Hisham Al-Azza {who was killed by Israeli forces} and Imad Shamasna then attacked Yusef Al-Azza and his family {while "Youth against settlements" group was renovating and fixing his home.
- August 14th 2018: Israeli settlers raided the old city of Hebron and stormed a resident’s home which is located near "Abraham Avinu" settlement.
- August 15th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the home of Ishaq Ramadan located along Al-Shuhada road in the old city of Hebron and then assaulted his daughters.
Closure of Crossing Points
The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 153 occasions during the month of August 2018. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 112 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 20 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 23 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.
The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 41 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 10 occasions. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
