MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

01 December 2021 – 31 December 2021

 

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 December 2021 to 31 Deceember 2021. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  December  2021

12/3/2021: The Israeli occupation forces, in the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in the town of Beita, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas at citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects, wounding 29 civilians (including a journalist). A paramedic and a civilian were wounded in the eyes, and 147 people suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 12/4/2021: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of Bab al-Amud in Jerusalem, opened fire towards and killed the civilian: Muhammad Shawkat Muhammad Salima, 25 years old - a resident of Salfit after he allegedly stabbed an Israeli settler. 12/6/2021: The Israeli occupation forces, located in the vicinity of "Tanim" - Jbara checkpoint near the city of Tulkarm, fired towards and killed the child: Muhammad Nidal Yunis Musa, 15 years old - Killings

A total of 8 residents was killed by Israeli forces during the month of December 2021 {8 in the West Bank and 0 in Gaza}:

• 12/4/2021: Muhammad Shawkat Muhammad Salima, 25 years old - a resident of Salfit, was killed after Israeli occupation forces opened fire towards him near the Bab Al-Amud area in Jerusalem city.
• 12/6/2021: The child: Muhammad Nidal Yunis Musa, 15 years old - a resident of Nablus was killed after the Israeli occupation forces, opened fire towards him in the vicinity of "Tanim" - Jbara checkpoint near the city of Tulkarm.
• 12/10/2021: The civilian: Jamil Jamal Abu Ayyash, 31 years old - a resident of Beita town was killed after Israeli occupation forces opened fire towards him during clashes with the occupation forces in the Jabal Sobeih area in the town of Beita.

Arrests

During the month of December 2021, the Israeli military arrested 459 Palestinians {453 in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of 153 Jerusalem, 57 Ramallah, 30 Jenin, 14 Tubas, 12 Tulkarm,15 Qalqilya, 39 Nablus, 11 Salfit, 14 Jericho, 35 Bethlehem, 74 Hebron. 3 North Gaza, 1 Khan Younis and 2 Rafah,

 

Among them: 16 children, 10 female citizens {including a school principle, a school teacher and a female student}, 1 University Student and 1 Security Force Officer.

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops.
