The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 February 2019 to February 28 2019. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

  • February 3rd 2019: Ahmad Ghazi Abbas Abu Jabal {30 years old}{A resident of Al-Shija’iya neighbourhood in east Gaza city} died of serious injuries sustained during clashes in North West Beit Lahiya town on January 29th 2019.
  • February 3rd 2019: , Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents and school children for alleged stoning during their raid into Al-Sawiya village and as a result injured Abdallah Ali Nubani {17 years old}.
  • February 4th 2019: Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of Al-Jalma Military checkpoint located in North Jenin city opened fire towards 2 residents {including a child} who were riding a motorcycle while going home from work and as a result killed Abdallah Faysal Omar Tuwalbat {19 years old}{A resident of Al-Jalmat village} and injured Omar Ahmad Hanayna {16 years old}{A resident of Arrana village}
  • February 6th 2019: Faris Mohammad Ahmad Baroud {51 years old}{A resident of Al-Shata camp in Gaza city} who was in Israeli prisons for 35 years died due to the medical negligence by Israeli Prison administration.
  • February 8th 2019:  Yasser Hamad Ishtaya {36 years old} {a resident of Tel village died of medical negligence of the administrators while in "Ashil" prison.
  • February 8th 2019:  Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Gaza city during the march of return and as a result killed Hamza Mohammad Rushdi Ishtawi {18 years old} {A resident of Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza city}, injured 9 residents and left 35 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • February 8th 2019: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Khuza'a town located in east Khan Yunis city participating in the right of return march and as a result killed Hassan Eyad Abdel-Fattah Shalbi {14 years old} {A resident of Khan Yunis city}, injured 4 residents and left 30 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • February 12th 2019: the child: Hassan Nabil Ahmad Nofal {17 years old} {A resident of Al-Nussirat camp} died of critical injuries sustained during clashes in Al-Buriej camp on February 8th 2019.
  • February 15th 2019:  Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators near east Al- Buriej camp during the march of return and as a result injured 3 residents {including a child and a woman} and left several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • February 17th 2019: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, and stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Al-Buriej camp and as result injured a child.
  • February 20th 2019:  Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Khan Yunis city, detained 4 fishermen and injured 2 fishermen : Haytham Abdel-Raziq Bakr and Awad Abdel-Raziq Bakr {Both are residents of Gaza city}then confiscated the fishing boat.
  • February 22nd 2019: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Gaza city during the march of return and as a result killed the child: Yusef Sa'id Al-Diyat {14 years old} {a resident of Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza city, injured 11 residents and left several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • February 25th 2019:  An Israeli Military vehicle travelling along the main road near Burin village junction ran over Fahima Khalil Mohammed Hashash {a resident of Balata refugee camp in Nablus} and as a result lefty him hospitalized with contusions.

  • February 3rd 2019: Israeli Authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders to ban 7 women:
    Dina Tarwa, Zeinab Tarwa, Ibtisam Al Tawil, Rania Ghazzawi, Jihad Al Razzem, Suad Obaidiah, and Safaa Al-Imam from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 18th 2019:  Israeli Authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders to ban 8 residents: Nazimia Bkirat, Raed Daana, Nour Shalabi, Hossam Sidr, Ammar Kstiro, Mohamed Zghir, Youssef Al Hawash, and Mohammed Shobaki from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem for a time period between 1 and 2 weeks as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Tarik Al-Alami from Al-Tur neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for a period of 1 week and fined him 500 NIS as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 19th 2019:  Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Nitham Abu Ramouz from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound until February 25th 2019 as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 20th 2019: Israeli Authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning 14 residents: Hamed al-Husseini, Mus'ab Obaidiyah, Mohammad Ma'touq, Yacoub al-Dabbagh, Mohammed al-Zughair, Fathi Najadi, Omar Odeh, Mohammed Abu Shousha, Mohammed Abu Qweider, Omar al-Zughair, Ahmad Rukn, Anas Abu al-Homs, Islam al-Zaghir and Hisham al-Bashiti from the old city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa mosque compound {with the exception for those living in the old city but not close to Al-Aqsa} for a period of 60 days and fined them 1500 NIS each as a condition for their release from Israeli Police custody after being detained near Bab Al-Rahma gate at an earlier time.
  • February 22nd 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders preventing Yasser Hassan Darwish {A resident of Al-Eisawiya village} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound and the old city of Jerusalem for a period of 15 days and placed him under house arrest for 5 days in addition to fining him 1000 NIS and an additional 20000 NIS as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 22nd 2019:  Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders preventing 4 residents: Amjad al-Gharouf, Jadallah al-Ghoul, Hijazi Abu Sabeeh, and Fadi al-Mutawar from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 3 days as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 24th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Raed Al-Da'na from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 6 months as a condition for his release after being detained by Israeli forces at an earlier time.
  • February 24th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning 2 residents: Nour Al-Shalabi and Mohammad Al Zaghir from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 6 months as a condition for his release after being detained by Israeli forces at an earlier time.
  • February 24th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning 2 residents: Ali Ajaj and Husni Al-Kilani from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 3 days a condition for their release after being detained by Israeli forces at an earlier time.
  • February 24th 2019:  Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning 3 residents: Arafat Najib, Samir Al-Qibani and Isam Najib from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 7 days a condition for their release after being detained by Israeli forces at an earlier time.
  • February 24th 2019:  Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning 2 residents: Abdel-Athim Salhab {Chairman of the Council of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Jerusalem and Najjah Barakat {Deputy Director General of Awqaf Department} from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of 7 days a condition for their release after being detained by Israeli forces at an earlier time.
  • February 25th 2019: Israeli authorities issued orders banning Abdel-Rahman Mahmoud {A resident of Al-Eisawiya village} from his home for a period of 10 days as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 25th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders banning 3 residents:
    Mohammed al-Dakqaq - for 6 months, Abu Zuram system - for 4 months, Hussam Sadd (staff member of Al-Aqsa Mosque) - for 6 months from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 26th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Hanadi Al-Hilwani {A resident of Jerusalem city} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque for a period of 6 months as a condition for her release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • February 27th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Nidal Bader Zaghir {A resident of Jerusalem city} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 3 months as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.

  • February 27th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued an order banning Khadija Khawayis {a resident of Jerusalem city} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 6 months.
  • February 28th 2019:  the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued an order banning Imad Abidin (employee of the Islamic Awqaf Department - Department of Firefighting) from area of ​​Bab al-Rahma within the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque for 7 days, as a condition for his release after He arrested him earlier while he was leaving al-Aqsa Mosque.
  • February 28th 2019: The Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued an order banning Anwar Sami Obeid from Al-Issawiya village from his place of residence and village for 32 days in addition to the five-day house arrest outside his place of residence, 1500 shekels and the signing of a financial guarantee of 3,000 shekels, as a condition for his release after he arrested him earlier.

During the month of February  2019, the Israeli military demolished 15 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • February 1st 2019: Israeli authorities forced Mahmoud Omar Ja'afrat to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid a financial penalty issued in the event that the Israeli military demolishes the home} for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 5th 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Ras Al-Amoud neighbourhood in Jerusalem city forced Mustafa Sabah to demolish his home {190 m} for allegedly being built without a licence after threatening him with a hefty financial penalty in the event the Israeli Military implemented a demolition order.
  • February 8th 2019: Israeli authorities forced Ahmad Mahmouu Obiyat to demolish his home {40 m2} as well as a merchant shop {30 m2} in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event of the demolition is implemented by the Israeli forces for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 11th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {approximately 100 m} owned by Majdi Al-Shuwiky in Ein Al-Jweizat area in Al-Walja village.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli Authorities forced Jamal Barikat to demolish his home {40 m2} in Sur Baher village for allegedly being built without a licence and threatened with imposing a hefty financial penalty if the Israeli Military implemented the demolition.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli authorities demolished a home owned by Farial Ja'abis {100m} in Jaba lAl-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli authorities demolished a home {180 m} owned by Jamal Yahya Idkedek and a storage room {60 m} owned by Ma'moun Jamal Yahya Idkedek in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without licenses.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {approximately 80 m2} owned by Mohammad Musa Zirinat located in Bi'r Owana area in Beit Jalla city which is located near the wall gate for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city demolished a home {approximately 65 m2} owned by Mohammad Obidat for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 residential tents owned by Jihad Mohammad Fahed Bani Odah and Fatima Soliman Mufdi Bani Oda in Khirbeit Al-Ras area in the North Jordan valley and also demolished a 350-square-meter sheep barn and 4 barns, a tent used for raising sheep.
  • February 20th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 home {approximately 120 square meters} owned by Tayssir Al-Muhtasib and his son Shadi in Al-Ashaqariyat neighbourhood in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 25th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {under construction} in Al-Nabi Eliyas village for allegedly being built without a licence.

During the month of February  2019, the Israeli military occupied 4 Palestinian homes which consisted of the following: 

  • February 11th 2019: Israeli forces occupied a home and converted its rooftop into a military post during their raid into Khirbeit Al-Dier area in Teqou' town then withdrew at 11:30.
  • February 17th 2019:  Israeli forces seized the family home of Hatem Abu Assab located in Aqbat Al-Khaldiya area in the old city of Jerusalem {which has been resided by the family for 65 years} and handing it over to one of the settlement associations based on the occupation law "Custodian of Absentee Property".

  • February 4th 2019: Israeli police chief "Yoram Hilifi" accompanied by several Police officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and provoked worshipers.
  • February 5th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers led by Uri Yehuda Ariel {Israeli Minister of Agriculture} under the protection of Israeli Military and Police officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and provoked worshipers.
  • February 17th 2019:  Israeli forces placed steel chains and locks on Al-Rahma Gate {a Main Gate entrance leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound} then removed them after local residents protested on the morning of February 19th 2019.
  • February 18th 2019: Israeli forces closed the gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and prevented residents from entering after having removed worshipers and students of Al Aqsa schools by force, and then reopened it an hour and a half later.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and assaulted several residents near Bab Al-Rahma gate and as result injured more the 20 residents {including Nasser Qaws} and detained 15 residents.
  • February 27th 2019: Israeli Police stormed Al-Rahma area in Al-Aqsa mosque compound and took pictures of worshipers.

  • February 5th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city approved plans for the construction of 13 settlement units in the west area of Al-Shiekh Jarrah neighbourhood in Jerusalem city on land occupied in 1967.
  • February 6th 2019: Israeli forces served military orders for the confiscation of 98 dunums {acres} of land in Rafat village for settlement expansion.
  • February 15th 2019: Israeli forces levelled a plot of land and placed dirt mounds near the water tank near Orif village school, denying villagers access to their 200 dunums of land.
  • February 17th 2019:  Israeli forces positioned near the east entrance of Deir Intham village levelled agricultural land owned by Ahmad Al-Tamimi, Abdel-Hamid Al-Tamimi and Ahmad Saleh Al-Khatib.
  • February 18th 2019: Israeli forces levelled plots of land located in east Burin village in an attempt to expand "Givat Ronim" settlement outpost.
  • February 18th 2019: Israeli forces levelled several plots of land in Sinariya and Masaha villages.
  • February 18th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued tenders for the construction of 464 new settlement units in "Gilo" settlement located in Jerusalem city on land occupied in 1967.
  • February 25th 2019:  Israeli forces stormed Barta'a Al-Sharqiya village located near the wall and levelled 28 dunums of land planted with Olive trees which are owned by Jamal Sharif Amarnat.

  • February 8th 2019: Israeli forces killed the child: Hassan Eyad Abdel-Fattah Shalbi {A resident of Khan Yunis city} after opening fire towards demonstrators in east Khuza'a town located in east Khan Yunis city.
  • February 8th 2019: Israeli forces killed Hamza Mohammad Rushdi Ishtawi {18 years old} {A resident of Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza city} after opening fire towards demonstrators in east Gaza city.
  • February 8th 2019: Yasser Hamad Ishtaya {36 years old} {a resident of Tel village died of medical negligence of the administrators while in "Ashil" prison.
  • February 12th 2019: Hassan Nabil Ahmad Nofal {17 years old} {a resident of Al-Nussirat camp} died of critical injuries sustained during clashes in Al-Buriej camp on February 8th 2019.
  • February 22nd 2019: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed the child: Yusef Sa'id Al-Diyat {14 years old} {a resident of Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza city} during clashes in east Gaza city.

Injuries

A total of 230 injuries were reported in the month of February 2019 (41 Palestinians in the West Bank and 189 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 6 children, 2 Women, 2 Journalists and 2 Fishermen.

Arrests

During the month of February 2019, the Israeli military arrested 531 Palestinians (510 in the West Bank and 21 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (170); Ramallah (63); Jenin (51); Tubas (24); Tulkarem (23); Qalqiliya (17); Nablus (39); Salfit (12); Jericho (13); Bethlehem (46); Hebron (52),North Gaza (8), Rafah (9) and Khan Yunis (4) Among those arrested by the Israeli military were: 50 children, 3 women, 4 fishermen, and 5 Security Force Officers.

 

 

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of August  2018  the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 301 flying checkpoints in February 2019 (compared with 388 in December 2018 and 364in January 2018) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up 302 Flying checkpoints in the month of February 2019 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (14); Ramallah (45); Jenin (13), Tubas (1), Qalqiliya (36); Nablus (37); Salfit (25); Jericho (24); Bethlehem (58) and Hebron (49).

 

 

Raids

The Israeli military carried out a total of 590 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of February 2019, including 583 in the West Bank and 7 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (48); Ramallah (71); Jenin (92); Tubas (9); Tulkarem (48); Qalqiliya (30); Nablus (90); Salfit (28); Jericho (9); Bethlehem (63); Hebron (95), North Gaza (12), Gaza (1)Khan Yunis (2) , Central Gaza (2).

Attacks

A total of 286 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of February 2019 (112 in the West Bank and 174 in the Gaza Strip).

The Israeli military carried out 135 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 69 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 43 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 33 attacks on Palestinian fishermen and territory and 6 from air strikes

Palestinian Attacks:

During the month of February 2019, Palestinian gunmen broke the ceasefire agreement on 4 occasions by launching projectiles towards the Green Line.

  • February 6th 2019:  Palestinian gunmen launched 3 projectiles towards the Green Line.
  • February 6th 2019: Palestinian gunmen opened fire towards Israeli forces positioned near the border fence in east Rafah city.
  • February 6th 2019: Palestinian Gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line.
  • February 10th 2019: Palestinian gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line {which landed near the border fence}.

 

Attacks on residential areas in West Bank and Gaza districts

 

Home Demolition

During the month of February 2019, the Israeli military demolished 15 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • February 1st 2019: Israeli authorities forced Mahmoud Omar Ja'afrat to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid a financial penalty issued in the event that the Israeli military demolishes the home} for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 5th 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Ras Al-Amoud neighbourhood in Jerusalem city forced Mustafa Sabah to demolish his home {190 m} for allegedly being built without a licence after threatening him with a hefty financial penalty in the event the Israeli Military implemented a demolition order.
  • February 8th 2019: Israeli authorities forced Ahmad Mahmoud Obiyat to demolish his home {40 m2} as well as a merchant shop {30 m2} in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event of the demolition is implemented by the Israeli forces for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 11th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {approximately 100 m} owned by Majdi Al-Shuwiky in Ein Al-Jweizat area in Al-Walja village.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli Authorities forced Jamal Barikat to demolish his home {40 m2} in Sur Baher village for allegedly being built without a licence and threatened with imposing a hefty financial penalty if the Israeli Military implemented the demolition.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli authorities demolished a home owned by Farial Ja'abis {100m} in Jaba lAl-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli authorities demolished a home {180 m} owned by Jamal Yahya Idkedek and a storage room {60 m} owned by Ma'moun Jamal Yahya Idkedek in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without licenses.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {approximately 80 m2} owned by Mohammad Musa Zirinat located in Bi'r Owana area in Beit Jalla city which is located near the wall gate for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city demolished a home {approximately 65 m2} owned by Mohammad Obidat for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 residential tents owned by Jihad Mohammad Fahed Bani Odah and Fatima Soliman Mufdi Bani Oda in Khirbeit Al-Ras area in the North Jordan valley and also demolished a 350-square-meter sheep barn and 4 barns, a tent used for raising sheep.
  • February 20th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 home {approximately 120 square meters} owned by Tayssir Al-Muhtasib and his son Shadi in Al-Ashaqariyat neighbourhood in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 25th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {under construction} in Al-Nabi Eliyas village for allegedly being built without a licence.

Attack on Public and Private property occurred as follows per District:

Jerusalem:

  • February 8th 2019:  Israeli authorities forced Ahmad Mahmouu Obiyat to demolish his home {40 m2} as well as a merchant shop {30 m2} in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event of the demolition is implemented by the Israeli forces for allegedly being built without a licence.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a livestock den {100 m} owned by Al-Natsha family in Wadi Al-Dam area in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli authorities demolished a storage room {60 m} owned by Ma'moun Jamal Yahya Idkedek in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without license.
  • February 20th 2019: The Israeli Antiquities Authority transferred soil from the Umayyad palaces area located in the eastern part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to an unknown location.
  • February 20th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a stone wall surrounding agricultural land in Mukhmas village.

Jenin:

  • February 25th 2019: Israeli forces uprooted approximately 300 Olive trees owned by Jamal Sharif Amarnat after leveling 28 dunums of land located in Barta'a Al-Sharqiya village located near the wall.

Tubas:

  • February 5th 2019: Israeli forces uprooted approximately 520 Olive trees and destroyed chickpeas planted on 4 dunums of land which are owned by Mohamed Saleh Sawafta, Omar Saleh Sawafta, Amer Mahmoud Ahmil, Azat Ahmed Rashaida, and Ziad Salem Sawafta in Bardala village in the North Jordan valley claiming that the trees are planted on state owned land.
  • February 6th 2019:  the Israeli Military ordered 18 families to leave their homes in Al-Ras Al-Ahmar , Al-Maytat, Al-Burj and Hamamat Al-Malah's area located in the North Jordan valley area {after a military order} from 10:00 until 17:00 for alleged military training in the area.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli forces began digging to build a water line for the Israeli company "Makrout" in the agricultural land west of the road leading to the village of Kordala in the northern Jordan valley.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli forces escorting an Excavator stormed Al-Malah area in the North Jordan valley and began construction work in the area.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli military forced 50 families out of their home in Khirbeit Ras Al-Ahmar, Al-Malah, Al-Maytat and Al-Burj areas located in the North Jordan valley region from 10:00 until 17:00 for alleged military training in the area {which was based on a prior military order given to local residents}.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 350-square-meter sheep barn and 4 barns, a tent used for raising sheep owned by Jihad Mohammad Fahed Bani Odah and Fatima Soliman Mufdi Bani Oda in Khirbeit Al-Ras area in the North Jordan valley.

Nablus:

  • February 5th 2019: Israeli forces prevented residents from planting approximately 200 Olive trees on a plot of land {10 dunums} near Burin village school and as a result forced the participants to plant them near the barbed wire fence erected by the occupation forces around the targeted land.
  • February 26th 2019: Israeli forces in Jalloud village prevented several farmers from accessing their agricultural land which is a few meters away from the local village school which is located in Area {B).

Hebron:

  • February 8th 2019: Israeli forces closed sealed off the family home of Ahmad Abu Sarour which is located along the main road connecting Hebron and Jerusalem alleging that the home is owned by the Christian Society and the nearby Beit El Baraka, which settlers took over years ago.
  • February 13th 2019: Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed Al-Mussafar area located east Yatta levelled and destroyed water pipe lines which provide water to 17 communities in the area and also leveled a road which was paved by The Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, which links the Khallet al-Daba area with Mussafer Yatta.
  • February 14th 2019: Israeli forces destroyed several fruit and vegetable dens located along the main road near Al-Fuwar camp junction and confiscated all the produce after assaulting the owners.
  • February 24th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Jurat Al-Khil area located in Wadi Sa'ir valley and destroyed 2 Solar power Generators which provide electricity for 2 homes and destroyed the belongings of 3 homes owned by Ibrahim Khalil Shiladat and Abdallah brahim Khalil Shiladat and Ahmad Shiladat.
  • February 27th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Khilat Al-Daba' in Al-Musafar area located in east Yatta town and uprooted 50 Olive groves owned by Ali Mahmoud Jabbre Al-Dababas.

Rafah:

  • February 9th 2019: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line launched flash grenades towards agricultural land in east Rafah city and as a result landed on a Greenhouse which was destroyed after catching fire.

Confiscation of Property:

Ramallah & Al-Bireh:

  • February 8th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage as they stormed and searched Jamal Abdel-Nasser Mosque {A Bireh Grand Mosque} during their raid into Al Bireh city.
  • February 27th 2019:  Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle during their raid into Ramallah city.
  • February 27th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle in Abu Qash village.

Tubas:

  • February 13th 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Ras Al-Ahmar area located in the North Jordan valley area confiscated a vehicle owned by Ahmad Thiyab Abu Kahziran {A resident of Tubas city}.

Tulkarem:

  • February 20th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated equipment owned by Raf'a Abdel-Hafith Ikbariyat after storming and searching his steel mill during their raid into Shweikiya neighbourhood in Tulkarem city.

Nablus:

  • February 5th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated Jewellery and a cellular phone from the home of Mahran Abu Khamis during their raid into Ein Beit Al-Ma camp.
  • February 12th 2019:  Israeli forces confiscated sums of cash after storming and searching the home of Marouf Hamdi Khatatbat during their raid into Beit Furiq town.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 400 m2 of tiles owned by Thiyab Samih Hija {A resident of Burqa village} located in Al-Masaudiya area in Burqa village for allegedly being placed in Area C which is under Israeli Military and administrative control.
  • February 26th 2019:

Salfit:

  • February 25th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a steam roller as it was paving a road in Deir Ballout town.

Bethlehem:

  • February 3rd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Hatem Ibrahim Dairiya after detaining him in Beit Fajjar town.
  • February 3rd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ibrahim Ali Mohammad Taha Fanoun {A special needs patient} {A resident of Nihalin town} after assaulting and detaining him near Nihalin town.
  • February 25th 2019:  Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned Ehab Abdallah Yusef Taqatqa after detaining him during their raid into Beit Fajjar town.

Hebron:

  • February 23rd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 4750 NIS from the home of Hatem Rabah Qufshiya during their raid into Hebron city.

Khan Yunis:

  • February 20th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat off the shores of Khan Yunis city and detained 4 fishermen

 Settlement Activity:

  • January 1st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Thahr Al-Malah village located behind the wall gate and levelled a plot of land approximately 120 dunums in order to expand "Shaqed" settlement.
  • January 1st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Bi'r Al-Basha area in south Hebron city and levelled a plot of agricultural land owned by Zakariya Abu Ajamiya and Imran Abu Ajamiya.
  • January 10th 2019: The Israeli occupation authorities announced the opening "4370 settlement road" in the city of Jerusalem, which separates Palestinian drivers from settler drivers. The street is divided by a wall up to 8 meters high. Connects the Adam colony on Route 1, Tel Aviv-Jerusalem, between the junction of the French Hill and the tunnel leading to the 3.5-kilometer-long mountain, which opened two weeks ago, west of the road, which allows unauthorized Palestinian drivers To enter the city of Jerusalem, while finally opened the other side of the street that allows Settlers to facilitate their access to the French Hill and Mount Jerusalem in Jerusalem city.
  • January 18th 2019: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued tenders for the construction of 464 new settlement units in "Gilo" settlement located in Jerusalem city on land occupied in 1967.
  • January 29th 2019:  Israeli Authorities in Jerusalem city approved plans for the construction of a cable cart in the old city of Jerusalem which will begin from Al-Tur neighbourhood and end at the western wall { The first phase of the plan will include the construction of three stations - the first station will be located at the old train station, the second stop near the parking lot near Mount Zion, and the third station will be built on the surface of the complex "Kedem" near Al Buraq Square}.

Settler Violence:

61 incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of February 2019 including:

Jerusalem:

  • February 2nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at Bab al-Huta gate {the northern entrance of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound} in the old city of Jerusalem and performed Talmudic rituals and provoked worshipers located near the gate and around Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • February 13th 2019:  a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Mukhmas village junction impeded the free flow of traffic in the area.
  • February 21ts 2019:  a Israeli settler driving his vehicle in Sur Baher village ran over the child Omar Qassem Al-Ramuni and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 26th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers spray painted anti-Arab and racist slogans on the walls near Bab Al-Rahma gate located on the eastern wall of Al-Aqsa mosque.

Ramallah &Al-Bireh:

  • February 1st 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Harjiya area located in Jibya village and assaulted Aram Wadi' Hassan Aweis {A resident of Jibya village} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 9th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers positioned in Wadi Al-Dalab area located near Ras Kar Kar village stoned vehicles travelling in the area.
  • February 9th 2019: Israeli settlers from "Bet El" settlement stoned vehicles travelling along the main road near Al-Jalazoun camp.
  • February 13th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed the area near the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village and installed tents in the area then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli military.
  • February 21ts 2019: Israeli settlers stormed Al-Janiya and Ras Kar Kar villages, slashed the tires of 10 vehicles located near Ras Kar Kar school and spray-painted racist and anti-arab slogans on several vehicles .
  • February 23rd 2019: An Israeli settler positioned near Eitoun Al-Haramiya area junction {located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus} opened fire towards Soliman Ahmad Izat Amran {A resident of Deir Al-Hatab village in Nablus district} and as a result left him hospitalized with wounds.

Tubas:

  • February 6th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers from "Rotim" settlement stormed agricultural land in Al-Farisiya area located in the North Jordan valley area and assaulted several shepherds who were herding their goats in the area during which Israeli forces detained a resident who attempted to defend himself from the settler attack.
  • February 12th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Farisiya area in the Nrth Jordan valley and assaulted Barakat Ali Zuhdi Abu Muh'sien {A resident of Tubas city} as he was herding his goats in the area and a as result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 17th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Khilat Hamad area located in the North Jordan valley and chased Ahmad Hussien Zuhdi Abu Muh'sin as he was herding his goats in the area during which the settlers ran over and killed a goat then proceeded to steel 2 others as Israeli forces temporarily detained the owner for more than 2 hours before releasing him.
  • February 19th 2019: Israeli settlers stormed Al-Farisiya area in the North Jordan valley and chased Ahmad Hassan Abu Muh'sin {A resident of Al-Farisiya area} as he was herding his goats.
  • February 22nd 2019: Israeli settlers stormed Al-Quba'ya area located in the North Jordan valley and installed tents on residential owned land
  • February 22nd 2019: Four Israeli settlers riding motorcycles stormed Um Al-Qabash area in Khirbioet Attouf village.
  • February 22nd 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Lahmat area in the North Jordan valley and went near homes in the area.
  • February 24th 2019: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Qa'da and Al-Sawid area's located in the North Jordan valley and placed steel fencing around hundreds of plots of land in attempt to confiscate the land.

Jenin:

  • February 2nd 2019:  A group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Homish" settlement {which was abandoned} attacked residents and vehicles and as a result damaged a vehicle owned by Foad Al-Shamti {A resident of Yatta town}.
  • February 2nd 2019: Israeli settlers stormed Al-Farisien area located between Ya'bad and Quffin towns then withdrew at 03:55.
  • February 6th 2019: An Israeli settler under the protection of the Israeli military installed a mobile home on Palestinian owned agricultural land in the area located between Ya'bad town and Zibada village.

Nablus:

  • February 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers riding on a (ATV-all-terrain vehicle) stormed the area between Aqraba and Beita towns and rode through several plots of agricultural land.
  • February 2nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the east area of Orif village then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military.
  • February 4th 2019:
  • February 6th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at the entrance of Al-Libban Al-Sharqiya village closed the entrance of the village thus preventing residents from entering of exiting the area who had to take alternative roads.
  • February 6th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Khirbeit Al-Qaser located in south Jalloud village and uprooted several Olive and Fig trees and levelled several plots of land in the area in order to prepare the area for a festival.
  • February 10th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Orif village and opened fire towards several residents near the village school during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
  • February 10th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed North Huwara town and shattered the windshields of several vehicles which were parked in front of home one of which is owned by Romal Suwati.
  • February 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land located near the main road leading to Assira Al-Qibliya village and stormed residents and vehicles travelling along the road and as a result damaged several vehicles.
  • February 12th 2019: Israeli settler stormed agricultural land in Jalloud village.
  • February 14th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in east Orif village and attacked the local school and as a result shattered several classroom windows during which Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result injured 2 residents and detained another.
  • February 17th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Homish" settlement {which was vacated} assaulted Abdel-Karim Raba'ya {A vegetable merchant} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 19th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stormed agricultural land located in Krouim Salim area which is in Burin village then ploughed the land.
  • February 21ts 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Orif village under the protection of the Israeli military who fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result injured a resident.
  • February 21ts 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Libban Al-Sharqiya village attacked several Sheppard’s who were herding their goats on agricultural land.
  • February 24th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at Huwara military checkpoint stoned vehicles passing through the checkpoint and as a result broke the windshield of a vehicle owned by Mohammad Abdel-Karim Sawafta {A resident of Bardala village in Tubas district}.
  • February 24th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Burin village and attacked Jamal Khalifa Qaddus as he was on duty guarding a school.

Qalqiliya:

  • February 12th 2019: An Israeli settler driving his vehicle travelling along the main road in Al-Fanduq village ran over Bassim Hassan {55 years old} {a resident of Azzun town} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 24th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Immatin village and uprooted several Olive trees

Salfit:

  • February 12th 2019:  a group of Israeli settlers stormed Kafr Al-Dik town and damaged a water well.
  • February 14th 2019: a group of settlers stormed Iskaka village and slashed the tires of 20 vehicles owned by (those who were identified): Muhammad Talib Muhammad Harb, Abdullah Ahmad Lami, Hindi Abdul Halim Lami, Adnan Ibrahim Harb, Munir Abdel Halim Harb, Saif Eddin Ahmed Lamy , Jawdat Abdel Halim Lami, Sufian Ibrahim Harb, Abdullah Fawaz Hussein, and also spray-painted anti-Arab and racist slogans

Jericho:

  • February 22nd 2019: Four Israeli settlers raided Al-Nuwi'ma village and stormed Naaran Synagogue" after damaging the wire fencing.

Bethlehem:

  • February 4th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military stormed Rumana area located in east Teqou' town , installed a mobile home in the area in an attempt to seize the land during which local land owners were able to have the settlers removed after showing the Israeli Military proof of ownership to the land.
  • February 16th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Kissan village located in south Teqou' town assaulted Abdallah Ali Ghazal {A resident of Kissan village} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 22nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Nakudim" settlement stormed a plot of agricultural land in Betar village owned by Al-Zawahrat family then withdrew after being chased by away by local residents.

Hebron:

  • February 2nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Arrub camp slandered and assaulted Ahmad Abu Sarour and his family as they attempted to remove them from their home located along the main road connecting Hebron and Jerusalem districts, claiming that the home is owned by a Christian Association and Beit Al-Baraka which was seized by settlers several years ago.
  • February 4th 2019: An Israeli settler’s vehicle travelling in Jaber neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron ran over the child Ahmad Wajih Jaber {15 years old} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 5th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Migon" settlement which is built on Palestinian owned land in east Yatta town stormed agricultural land in Al-Hamra area located in east Tuwani village and uprooted 23 Olive trees owned by Jum'a Musa Jibril Al-Ruba'i.
  • February 7th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near road (60) near Al-Arrub camp assaulted Zaynab Abu Sarour {62 years old} and her 2 sons: Ahmad and Abdel-Qadder and as a result left them injured with contusions during which Israeli forces detained Abdel-Qadder as he attempted to resist the attack.
  • February 9th 2019: Israeli settlers positioned at Tel Al-Rumayda neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron stoned the headquarters of "Youth against settlement" Headquarters and several other homes in the area.
  • February 9th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Kiryat Arba'" settlement headed by Ofar {An extremist settler} stormed Al-Sahlat area located south of the old city of Hebron during which they called out {via loud speaker} for the murder of Palestinian citizens.
  • February 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Al-Tuwani village, smashed the windshields of several vehicles and uprooted several Olive tree planted a few weeks ago.
  • February 12th 2019:  a group of Israeli settlers attacked the home of Hana Jamil Abu Haykal in Tel Al-Rumayda neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron.
  • February 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Mussaffar area located in east Yatta town, assaulted 2 residents: Jihad Ibrahim Abu Sabha and Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu Sabha and as a result left them hospitalized with contusions.
  • February 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the old city of Hebron and attacked the home of Abu Imad Iqnibi then threatened to kill him and his family if they did not leave the home.
  • February 21ts 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Magon" and "Beit Yattir" settlement stormed agricultural land in east Yatta town and chased away several Sheppard who were herding their goats in Um Humtiya and Al-Hamra areas.
  • February 22nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Khliat Assir area in Al-Shiyoukh town and uprooted 600 newly planted Olive groves owned by Al-Idawi and Al-Rusanat families.
  • February 23rd 2019: Israeli settlers assaulted Husam Abu Hadid {Treasurer of Hebron Rehabilitation Committee} in Al-Sahlat area in the old city of Hebron and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.

Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 132 occasions during the month of February 2019. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 97 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 23 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 20 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.

 

The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 36 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 7 occasions. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
