MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 January 2020 to January 30 2020. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of January  2020

  • January 14th 2020: The child: Yasmeen Khalid Abdallah Ghazal {17 years old} was hospitalized with contusions after she run over by a Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road near the west entrance of Kisan village.
  • January 19th 2020: Ammar Manar Mohammad Al-Hajjar {34 years old}{a resident of Al-Saftawi area located in Jabaliya town} died of injuries sustained during clashes with Israeli forces in east Jabaliya town and North Gaza district on January 14th 2018.
  • January 21st 2020: At 21:00 on January 21st 2020, the Israeli occupation forces announced that 3 civilians (including a child) were killed, as a result of shooting at them, on the pretext that they were armed, as they infiltrated the border fence into Israel east of Al-Maghazi camp. They are: Muhammad Hani Musaad Salem Abu Mandil (17 year old) (a resident of Al-Maghazi camp), Salem Zuweid Hweishel Al-Naamy (18 years old) (a resident of Al-Maghazi camp) and Mahmoud Khaled Mahmoud Saeed (18 years old) (a resident of east of Deir al-Balah town).
  • January 26th  2020: Israeli forces positioned in Al-Thaher area in Beit Ummar town near "Karmi Tsur" settlement fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 2 children: Omar Ibrahim Mustafa Sabarna {17 years old} leaving them hospitalized.
  • January 28th  2020: Israeli forces positioned near the North entrance of Al-Bireh city fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators for alleged stoning and as a result injured 5 residents {including a chid}: Ameen Abdel-Kareem Abu Al-Rub {16 years old} and left several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • January 29th 2020: Israeli forces positioned at "Pesagout" settlement located in east Al-Bireh city fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators for alleged stoning and as a result injured 3 children:  Mohammad Muneeb Abdul Rahman Maridi {16 years old}, Haitham Wajih Mohammad Musabeh {15 years old}, and Mohammad Naeem Hadeda {16 years old} and detained child.
  • January 30th 2020: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east Hebron city stoned vehicles and as a result injured a child.
  • January 31st 2020: Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several worshipers during dawn prayers as they stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and as a result injured 10 residents.

  • On January 23rd 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders banning 4 residents: Ibrahim Natshe - {6 months}, Munir Al Basti {4 months}, Mohamed Sharifa {4 months}, Ahmad Derbas {4 months} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.

  • On January 10th 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem issued orders banning 4 residents of Jerusalem city{, for a period ranging between 5 - 6 months} Imad Abu Sneineh - for a period of 6 months, Ahmad Rukn - for a period of 5 months, Muhammad Zughair - For 5 months, Ahmed Al-Shawish - for 5 months, as a condition for their release.
  • On the evening of January 8th 2019, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders banning Sana Al-Rajabi {a resident of Jerusalem city} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 15 days as a condition for her release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city banned Ahmad Rakan {a resident of Jerusalem city} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem as a condition of his release after he was detained at an earlier time.
  • On the evening of January 5th 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders banning 3 residents:

  • On January 15th 2020, Israeli forces served a military order for the confiscation of 350 dunums of land located in Baqoush,Khillet Thaher Al-Ain, Thaghrat Hamad, Al-Shaghaf, Zuqindih, Ain Qassis, Shush'halat and Al-Rajim area's located on Al-Khader town and Irtas village with the aim of expanding bypass road 60.
  • On January 22nd 2020, The occupying forces issued a military order to confiscate an area of citizens' land belonging to the villages of Burin, Tal and Madma, which extends from the Madma village bridge and is located on both sides of the 3 km-log Estani road leading to the military control tower located near the village of Tel, under the pretext of military purposes.
  • On January 27th 2020,Israeli forces served a military order for the confiscation of agricultural land plot {8} located in Al-Shioukh town and plot {20} located in Al-Wasilat and Qanan Faqout area's in Sa'ir town for the purpose of expanding "Isvar-Mastad" settlement located in east Sa'ir town.

During the month of January 2020, the Israeli military demolished 23 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • January 2nd 2020: , Israeli forces demolished 3 residential tents owned by Zaynab Soliman Salem Abu Thaher and Ibrahim Sa'id Ziyad Abu Thaher during their raid into Khirbeit Attouf village.
  • January 2nd 2020: , Israeli forces demolished 2 homes owned by Yazid Khalayla and his brother {100 m2} in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • January 3rd 2020:  Israeli authorities forced Maher Mohammad Musa Sari to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city in order to avoid a fine in the event that the Israeli Military demolishes the home for being allegedly built without a license.
  • January 7th 2020: Israeli forces demolished 6 mobile homes (caravans) and a livestock den {for raising sheep}, in the Ras Al-Auja area, west of Al-Auja village, north of Jericho and as a result left 1 resident hospitalized with contusions , 5 houses were confiscated after they were dismantled, for allegedly being located on land in Area (C) which is under Israeli control, and the houses and live stockd that were demolished are owned by Suleiman Nassar Najada, Nayef Abu Kharbish, Fadi Abu Kharbish, Jamal Herizat, Muhammad Herizat, Rami Harizat, and Fadi Harizat.
  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli authorities forced Mohammad Nassar and his brother Maher to demolish their homes in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid paying a fine in the event that Israeli Military forces demolished the home} for allegedly being built without licenses.
  • On January 8th 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city forced Ayisha Mashahrat to demolish her home {built of cement and 60m2} in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid a financial penalty in the event the Israeli military conducted the demolition} for allegdly being built without a license.
  •  On January 12th 2020, Israeli authorities forced Sayil Ibrahim Hassan Ja'abis to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license {in order to avoid getting fined in the event that the Israeli military demolished the home}.
  • January 12th 2020: Israeli authorities forced Sami Mansour Mash'harat to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license {in order to avoid getting fined in the event that the Israeli military demolished the home}.
  • January 16th 2020: Israeli forces demolished a home {150 m2} owned by Hussien Mohammad Salama Ruba'i located in Al-Dirat area located in east Yatta for allegedly being built without a license during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the demolition of the home.
  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces demolished a tent and a mobile home {caravan} in addition to fencing owned by Mohammad Al-Khad'at located in Bir Awnat area in Beit Jalla city for allegedly being built in Area C which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control.
  • On January 28th 2020, The Israeli Military forced Mohammad Abu Al-Hummus to demolish a section of his home {a room under construction} in Al-Eisawiya village in order to avoid paying a hefty fine in the event the Israeli military implement the demolition for allegedly being built without a license.
  • On January 31st 2020, Israeli authorities in Khillet Abed located in Abu Dis town forced Ibrahim Iriqat to demolish a den {used as shelter} for allegedly being built without a licence.

Israeli settler stoned residents and vehicles, stormed homes, uprooted trees, assaulted residents, ran over children with their vehicles, stormed several villages and towns and slashed the tires of residential vehicle.

 Israeli settler raided the vicinity of Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem on several occasions.

 On January 16th 2020, Israeli Police forces stormed Bab Al-Rahma prayer area in Al-Aqsa mosque compound and searched the area.
At dawn on January 17th 2020, Israeli forces raided Al-Aqsa Mosque, chased worshipers inside the Mosque and fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several worshipers and as a result injured 5 residents and left several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.

At dawn on January 24th 2020, Israeli Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and chased several worshipers and assaulted them then proceeded to fire rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several worshipers during dawn prayers.

At dawn on January 24th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers set fire to Sharfat mosque located in Beit Safafa village in south Jerusalem city and spray painted anti-arab and racist slogans on the mosque walls during which Israeli forces sealed off the mosque and prevented worshipers from entering the mosque.

At dawn on January 31st 2020, Israeli Police officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and assaulted several worshipers then fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several worshipers during dawn prayers and as a result injured 10 residents leaving them hospitalized with contusions.

  • January 1st 2020:  Israeli forces levelled a plot of land in Wadi Al-Rasha village in order to expand "Alvi Manshat" settlement.
  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli authorities approved plans for the construction of 1150 settlement units,It is the first stage of planning procedures, and it has also finally approved a plan to build 786 housing units - (of which 285 are housing units in the "Hawarsha" settlement outpost located in the Ramallah district, and 180 housing units are in the Mitzpeh Dani settlement located in the Ramallah district , 147 settlement housing units in the Mitzpeh Jericho settlement located in Jericho district, 107 settlement housing units in the “Alon Moreh” settlement located in Nablusdistrict, 100 housing units in the Neve Tesuf settlement located in Ramallah district, and 40 settlement housing units In the “Bedouil” colony in Salfit district, which is located on Al-Mawa lands Nin within the occupied territories in 1967.
  • On January 14th 2020, Israeli forces began digging land owned by residents of Kafr Laqif village to implement the second phase of the construction of a new water pipeline feeding several Israeli settlement, which runs from inside the Green Line to the borders of Nablus district.
  • On January 26th 2020, Israeli forces levelled 600 cubic meters of Palestinian owned land located in Khirbeit Al-Madurat in North Bruqin town in order to expand "Brughin" settlement.

A total of 5 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of January 2020 {5 in Gaza}:

  • January 19th 2020” Ammar Manar Mohammad Al-Hajjar {34 years old}{a resident of Al-Saftawi area located in Jabaliya town} died of injuries sustained during clashes with Israeli forces in east Jabaliya town and North Gaza distrcit on January 14th 2018.
  • January 22nd 2020: the Israeli occupation forces announced that 3 civilians (including a child) were killed, as a result of shooting at them, on the pretext that they were armed, as they infiltrated the border fence into Israel east of Al-Maghazi camp. They are: Muhammad Hani Musaad Salem Abu Mandil (17 year old) (a resident of Al-Maghazi camp), Salem Zuweid Hweishel Al-Naamy (18 years old) (a resident of Al-Maghazi camp) and Mahmoud Khaled Mahmoud Saeed (18 years old) (a resident of east of Deir al-Balah town).
  • January 31st 2020”0the child: Alaa Hani Al Abbasi, 15 years old - residents of Khan Yunis, after his deteriorating health condition - died from his serious wounds sustained during his participation in the return marches east of Khan Yunis a few months ago.

Injuries

A total of 123 injuries were reported in the month of January 2020 (107 Palestinians in the West Bank and 16 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 10 children 1 journalist and an elderly resident.

Arrests

During the month of January 2020, the Israeli military arrested 456 Palestinians (447 in the West Bank and 9 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (149); Ramallah (42); Jenin (46); Tubas (7); Tulkarem (9); Qalqiliya (25); Nablus (23); Salfit (7); Jericho (19); Bethlehem (43); Hebron (77),North Gaza (6) and  Gaza (3). Among those arrested by the Israeli military were 41 children, 6 women, 3 University students, 2 Journalist and 6 Security Force Officers.

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of September 2018  9he Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 317 flying checkpoints in January 2020 (340 in December compared with 344 in November 2019) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up 317 Flying checkpoints in the month of January 2020 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (17); Ramallah (36); Jenin (4);Tubas (4), Tulkarem (2); Qalqiliya (31); Nablus (29); Salfit (27); Jericho (23); Bethlehem (77) and Hebron (67)

Raids

The Israeli military carried out a total of 459 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of January 2020, including 459in the West Bank and 1 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (57); Ramallah (59); Jenin (61); Tubas (11); Tulkarem (19); Qalqiliya (37); Nablus (92); Salfit (13); Jericho (6); Bethlehem (37); Hebron (66) and Khan Yunis (1)

Attacks

A total of 329 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of January 2020 (186 in the West Bank and 143 in the Gaza Strip).

The Israeli military carried out 102 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 137 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 49 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 16 attacks on Palestinian fishermen and territory and 25 from air strikes.

Palestinian Attacks:

During the month of January 2020, Palestinian gunmen broke the ceasefire agreement on 10 occasions:

  • On January 15th 2020, Palestinian Gunmen launched 4 projectiles towards the Green Line.
  • On January 26th 2020, Palestinian Gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green line.
  •  On January 29th 2020, Palestinian gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line.
  • On January 30th 2020, Palestinian Gunmen opened fire towards Israeli forces positioned behind the border fence in Al-Farahin area located in east Khan Yunis city.
  • January 30th 2020, Palestinian gunmen launched 3 projectiles towards the Green line.
  • On the evening of January31. 2020, Palestinian armed groups fired two shells (of unknown type) towards the Green Line.
  • On January 31 2020, members of the Palestinian armed groups opened fire towards an occupation forces patrol, east of Khan Yunis.

 

Attacks on residential areas in West Bank and Gaza districts

 

Home Demolition

During the month of January 2020, the Israeli military demolished 23 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • January 2nd 2020: , Israeli forces demolished 3 residential tents owned by Zaynab Soliman Salem Abu Thaher and Ibrahim Sa'id Ziyad Abu Thaher during their raid into Khirbeit Attouf village.
  • January 2nd 2020: , Israeli forces demolished 2 homes owned by Yazid Khalayla and his brother {100 m2} in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • January 3rd 2020:  Israeli authorities forced Maher Mohammad Musa Sari to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city in order to avoid a fine in the event that the Israeli Military demolishes the home for being allegedly built without a license.
  • January 7th 2020: Israeli forces demolished 6 mobile homes (caravans) and a livestock den {for raising sheep}, in the Ras Al-Auja area, west of Al-Auja village, north of Jericho and as a result left 1 resident hospitalized with contusions , 5 houses were confiscated after they were dismantled, for allegedly being located on land in Area (C) which is under Israeli control, and the houses and live stockden that were demolished are owned by Suleiman Nassar Najada, Nayef Abu Kharbish, Fadi Abu Kharbish, Jamal Herizat, Muhammad Herizat, Rami Harizat, and Fadi Harizat.
  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli authorities forced Mohammad Nassar and his brother Maher to demolish their homes in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid paying a fine in the event that Israeli Military forces demolished the home} for allegedly being built without licenses.
  • On January 8th 2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city forced Ayisha Mashahrat to demolish her home {built of cement and 60m2} in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city {in order to avoid a financial penalty in the event the Israeli military conducted the demolition} for allegdly being built without a license.
  •  On January 12th 2020, Israeli authorities forced Sayil Ibrahim Hassan Ja'abis to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license {in order to avoid getting fined in the event that the Israeli military demolished the home}.
  • January 12th 2020: Israeli authorities forced Sami Mansour Mash'harat to demolish his home in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license {in order to avoid getting fined in the event that the Israeli military demolished the home}.
  • January 16th 2020: Israeli forces demolished a home {150 m2} owned by Hussien Mohammad Salama Ruba'i located in Al-Dirat area located in east Yatta for allegedly being built without a license during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residnts who attempted to prevent the demolition of the home.
  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces demolished a tent and a mobile home {caravan} in addition to fencing owned by Mohammad Al-Khad'at located in Bir Awnat area in Beit Jalla city for allegedly being built in Area C which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control.
  • On January 28th 2020, The Israeli Military forced Mohammad Abu Al-Hummus to demolish a section of his home {a room under construction} in Al-Eisawiya village in order to aviode paying a hefty fine in the event the Israeli military implement the demolition for allegedly being built without a license.
  • On January 31st 2020, Israeli authorities in Khillet Abed located in Abu Dis town forced Ibrahim Iriqat to demolish a den {used as shelter} for allegedly being built without a licence.

Jerusalem:

  • January 12th 2020: Israeli authorities forced Hisham Khalil Abdallah Dari to demolish a concrete fence around his plot of land which is used as a parking lot in Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license {in order to avoid getting fined in the event that the Israeli military demolished the fence}.
  • January 14th 2020: Israeli forces demolished a steel mill owned by Khalid Nimer Abu Khalil in Hizma town then confiscated its equipment.
  • January 29th 8020: Israeli forces demolished a merchant shop {a Pharmacy} owned by Fadi Hassan Al-Shaber in Wadi Al-Juz neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH:

  • On January 13th 2020, Israeli forces prevented the reconstruction and rehabilitation of a 2km agricultural road in Al-Mughier village on land approximately 70 dunums for allegedly being located in Area C which is under Israeli Military and administrative control.

Tubas:

  • January 14th 2020: , Israeli forces issued a military order for the removal of residential facilities and uprooting of trees owned by Mahmoud Hayel Bishirat located in Hamsat Al-Tahta area located in the North Jordan valley for allegedly being on an archaeological site.
  • Nablus:
  • On January 26th 2020, Israeli forces halted construction of a road in Zuwata village and detained several construction workers after confiscating their bulldozer.
  • On January 29th 2020, Israeli forces positioned in "Shavi Shamron" settlement kicked several residents of Sabistiya village off agricultural land located near the settlement as they were herding their livestock.

Jericho:

  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli forces demolished a livestock den and 6 mobile homes {caravans} located Ras Al-Oja area located in west Al-Oja village located in North Jericho city.

Bethlehem:

  • On January 1st 2020, Israeli forces levelled agricultural land and uprooted Olive trees owned by Izzat Abdallah Hassan and Ahmad Abdel-Latif in Khillet Farwan located in east Al-Ju'ba village.
  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces demolished a concrete fence owned by Mohammad Zarinat in Bir Awnat area in Beit Jalla city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces levelled 2 roads located in Ein Juzat area in Al-Waljat village.

Hebron:

  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces demolished the foundations of a school {under construction} located in Birien village which is located in north east Yatta town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • On January 16th 2020, Israeli forces located near Zif village junction forced Ali Issa Abu Arram to demolish his carwash and remove equipment after receiving a military order for the demolition in order to avoid paying a fine in the event that Israeli forces demolish the home for allegedly being built without a license.
  • On January 27th 2020, Israeli forces in al-Mutafar area, east of Yatta town, served military orders to halt construction on a house owned by Yasser Hammada, and also served military orders to halt construction two sheep-breeding barns owned by 2 residents: Mohammed Ayoub Abu Subha and Yasser Ali Abu Subha in the villages of Al-Muqara and Al-Fakit, located southeast of Yatta town.

Confiscation of Property:

Jerusalem:

  • On January 1st 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 5 residential tents owned by: Muhammad Omar Abdul Qadir, Zaki Khalil Abdul Qadir Jaafar, his father Khalil, Muhammad Maher Al-Sarkhi, and Hani Shaker Al-Sarkhi in Al-Muntar area located in the old city of Jerusalem and confiscated a water pipe line.
  • On January 14th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated equipment from a steel mill owned by Khalid Nimer Abu Khalil after demolishing it in Hizma town.

Ramallah:

  • On January 2nd 2020, Israeli forces confiscated a tractor owned by Khalil Abu Aliya during their raid into Al-Mughier village.
  • On January 9th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated a mobile trailer owned by Imad Ghannan {a resident of Kafr Nima village} {approximately 30 m2} located near the main road near Ras KarKar town.
  • On January 12th 2020,  Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Hamada Jamal Al-Dahnoun during their raid into Silwad town

 

Tubas:

  • On January 1st 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 3 residential tents and a water tank owned by Zaynab Soliman Salem Abu Thaher and Ibrahim Sa'id Ziyad Abu Thaher during their raid into Khirbeit Attouf village.
  • On January 3rd 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 5 tractors owned by: Jamal Al-Hamdan, Salim Daraghmeh, Ibrahim Khadr Daraghmeh, Kamal Ghazi Daraghmeh, and Naseem Ali Mahmoud. As they were working on agricultural land in Um Al-Baqa area in the North Jordan valley for allegedly being located in an alleged closed military zone.

Jenin:

  • On January 7th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated equipment from a steel mill owned by Rushdi Al-Bath during their raid into Jenin city.

Qalqiliya:

  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Abdel-Hameed Abu Haniya {a resident of Azzun town} after detaining him.
  • Om January 28th 2020, Israeli forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located at Jit village junction confiscated a vehicle owned by Murad Mohammad Ajjaj {a resident of Tulkarem distrct}.

Nablus:

  • On January 1st 2020,  Israeli forces confiscated a tractor owned by owned by Salam Hillal Khatatba near Beit Furik town for allegedly working on land in area C {which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control}.
  • At dawn on January 2nd 2020, Israeli forces confiscated equipment owned by Mohammad Atta Shara'tiya after storming his steel mill located near Salem village junction during their raid into the east neighbourhoods of Nablus city.
  • On January 14th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated a bulldozer owned by Ibrahim Issa {a resident of Salem village} as he was on a construction site paving a road in Ras Al-Ein area located in North Salem village.
  • On January 26th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated a bulldozer as its was paving a road in Zuwata village.

 

Jericho:

  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 5 mobile homes {caravans} after dismantling them in Ras Al-Oja area located in west Al-Oja village located in North Jericho city.

Bethlehem:

  • On January 4th 2020, Israeli forces positioned in Baqush area in Nihalin town confiscated a concrete pump and cement mixer owned by Mahmoud Ahmad Suwad as he was constructing a home for allegedly being built without a license.

Hebron:

  • On January 7th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 2000 NIS from Amjad Jawabir during their raid into Al-Arub camp.
  • On January 26th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated agricultural equipment and chopped of the limbs of sevral Olive tree owned by Ribhi Rabah Al-Rajabi located in Bierien area located in south Bani Na'im town.
  • On January 27th 2020, Israeli forces confiscated 2 bulldozers as they were working on a construction site to rehabilitate a school soccer field.

 Settlement Activity:

  • On January 6th 2020, Israeli authorities approved plans for the construction of 1150 settlement units,It is the first stage of planning procedures, and it has also finally approved a plan to build 786 housing units - (of which 285 are housing units in the "Hawarsha" settlement outpost located in the Ramallah district, and 180 housing units are in the Mitzpeh Dani settlement located in the Ramallah district , 147 settlement housing units in the Mitzpeh Jericho settlement located in Jericho district, 107 settlement housing units in the “Alon Moreh” settlement located in Nablusdistrict, 100 housing units in the Neve Tesuf settlement located in Ramallah district, and 40 settlement housing units In the “Bedouil” colony in Salfit district, which is located on Al-Mawa lands Nin within the occupied territories in 1967.
  • On January 14th 2020, Israeli forces began digging land owned by residents of Kafr Laqif village to implement the second phase of the construction of a new water pipeline feeding several Israeli settlement, which runs from inside the Green Line to the borders of Nablus district.
  • On January 26th 2020, Israeli forces levelled 600 cubic meters of Palestinain owned land located in Khirbeit Al-Madurat in North Bruqin town in order to expand "Brughin" settlement.

Settler Violence:

  1. incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of January 2020 including:

Ramallah &Al-Bireh:

  • On January 2nd 2020, a group of Israeli settlers levelled agricultural land located in Harshat Aarea in Al-Mazra'a Al-Gharbiya village.
  • On January 24th 2020, an Israeli settler positioned near Beit Sira military checkpoint opened fire towards a resident and as a result left him hospitalised after being struck in the shoulder.

Nablus:

  • On January 3rd 2020, a group of Israeli settlers riding a vehicle raided Nablus city as they attempted to storm Joseph's Tomb then were chased away by Palestinian Police force officer who were guarding the Tomb.
  • On January 8th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers from "Rahalim" settlement located in Al-Sawiya village chopped down 50 Olive trees owned by Hamad Mahmoud Hakamat in Al-Wad area located in Al-Sawiya village
  • On January 13th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stormed agricultural land located at the outskirts of south Madma village then stoned several homes during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
  • On January 15th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Madma village and assaulted Diyana Fawzi Sadiqi Al-Qut and as a result left her hospitalised with contusions.
  •  On January 15th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Madma village and attacked the home of Yahya Mohammad Sa'di Qut as they attempted to seize the home during which local residents were able to chase away the settlers.
  • On January 25th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers from "Rahalim" settlement located in Harayiq Rayan area located in Al-Sawiya village assaulted and stoned 2 residents who were farming agricultural land in the area and as a result left them hospitalised with contusions.
  • On January 25th 2020, Israeli forces raided Burin village, attacked the home of Munatsir Mansour and stole tools from inside the home.
  • On January 28th 2020a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Madma village and chopped off the limbs of several Olive trees located in Al-Qa'adat area south of the village.
  • .At dawn on January 28th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement located in Einbus village set fire to a class room at the village boys secondary school and spray-painted anti Arab and racist slogans on the school walls.
  • On January 31. 2020 a group of settlers entered the agricultural lands of the citizens on the outskirts of the village of Madama, and stones were thrown towards the homes of the citizens, which led to smashing the windows of the citizen’s house: Ahmad Khalil al-Qat, and after that, the occupation forces intervened and fired metal coated with rubber and sound bombs. And tear gas towards citizens while they were trying to confront the settlers, which led to the injury of 3 citizens.
  •  On January 31. 2020 a group of settlers entered the agricultural lands of the Sebastia village, located near the “Shafi Shamron” colony, and uprooted a newly planted olive seedlings, and destroyed the surrounding fence

Qalqiliya:

  • On January 25th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Jit village and chopped down several olive trees owned by Omar Yammin levelled a plaot of land and installed a mobile home on a plot of land owned by Shadi Itlbeleh.
  • Salfit:
  • On January 6th 2020, a group of Israeli settler broke water meters of several homes located in Kafil Harris town as they were storming archaeological sites in the area.

Bethlehem:

  • On January 2nd 2020, an Israeli settler driving his vehicle along the main road near Al-Minat village located in south Teqou' town ran over Billal Sa'id Ghazal and as a result left him hospitalized with a fractured leg.
  • On January 14th 2020, an Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road near the west entrance of Kisan village ran over the child Yasmeen Khalid Abdallah Ghazal {17 years old} as she was walking to school and as a result left her hospitalized with contusions.

Hebron:

  • On January 14th 2020, a group of Israeli settler stormed agricultural land located near "Karmail" settlement located in east Yatta town and planted trees in the area.
  • On January 18th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Jaber neighborhood in the old city of Hebron attacked several home with stones and glass bottles then used racial slures towards residents and children.
  • On the evening of January 20th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Bani Na'im town junction stoned several vehicles travelling in the area and as a result damaged the vehicle owned by Eyad Barakat {a resident of Yatta town}.
  • On January 29th 2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed the old city of Hebron and installed a steel fence [approximately 2 m high} on the second floor of Al-Ibrahimi mosque compound and also changed the canopy in the courtyard area of the mosque.

Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 147 occasions during the month of January 2020. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 106 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 27days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 22 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.

 

The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 41 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 10 occasions. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
