MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 March 2018 to March 31 2018. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of   March  2018

  • March 3rd 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khuz'a town and as a result killed Mohammed Atta Abdul Mawla Abu Jameh {59 years old} who was farming his land.
  • March 7th 2018: Israeli forces positioned at the east entrance of Burin village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent settlers attack and as a result injured 2 residents Marwan Raja Mohammed Zaben (who was struck by a stone in the head by settlers) and Mahmoud 'Omran (16 years old) with rubber-coated steel bullet.
  • March 8th 2018: the child Ali Khalid Al-Julani {12 years old} was hospitalized with fractures and bruises after he fell from the roof of his home as Israeli soldiers were chasing him near Bab Al-Zawiya area.
  • March 9th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near Al-Mazra'a Al-Gharbiya village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 2 residents {including a child}: Ahmed Shriteh (injured by a tear gas canister) and 13-year-old Islam (wounded by a rubber-coated steel bullet in the foot).
  • March 9th 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Bab Al-Zawiya area located in Hebron city fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result killed Mohammad Zain Al-Ja'bari {24 years old} {A Special needs Patient}.
  • March 10th 2018: Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to stop Israeli settlers from attacking several homes during clashes in Orif village and as a result killed Ameer Omar Shehadeh {19 years old} {A residents of Orif village} and injured 2 residents: Hamam Mohammed Safadi and Ibrahim Amir Shehadeh.
  • March 11th 2018: a Israeli settler driving a vehicle along the main road in Hizma town ran over the child :Rashid Yasser Kan'an {16 years old} and as a result left him hospitalized with a fractured skull and contusions
  • March 16th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near the North entrance of Al-Bireh city fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several resident for alleged stoning and as a result injured 8 residents {including a child , a Paramedic and a Journalist}: Najim al-Razzem, Karim Ma'amoun 'Atila, with a live bullet in the foot; Maysam Zuhair Isma'il' Omar, with a live bullet in the foot; and Mohammed 'Ahed Sadaqa, 17, wounded by a live bullet in the thigh and left 8 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  •  March 18th 2018: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed Abdel-Rahman Maher Bani Fadel {28 years old} {A resident of Arqa town in Nablus city} after he allegedly stabbed an Israeli security guard in the old city of Jerusalem.
  • March 20th 2018: Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning as they stormed and searched 2 homes and as a result injured 8 residents including {5 children}: Ahmed Mohamed Ghanem {16 years old}, Ahmad Adnan Ateeq {17 years old}, Khattab Mohamed Amin Samour {15 years old}, Mohammed Mufid Shafiq {15 years old}, Mohammed Saleh Samour {16 years old}, Suhaib Mohammed Samour, Mohammed Ahmed Adnan Amoudi and Hisham Allam Mohamed Ghanem during their raid into Bruqin town.
  • March 21st 2018: Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 3 residents {including a woman who suffered a fractured arm after Israeli forces assaulted her}: Fatima Al-Na'san {who suffered a fractured arm after Israeli forces assaulted her}, Mujahid Abdul Na'san, and Muhammad Yasser Abdul Salam Haj Muhammad during their raid into Al-Mughier village..
  • March 23rd 2018:  Israeli forces positioned in Al-Mazra'a Al-Gharbiya village fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 5 residents {including a child}: Abd al-Karim Bilal Sa'aida {14 years old}, Yazen Abu Qara`, Muhammad Usama Abu Rabei, Qusay Saleh Jibril, and Abu Omar Qara` and left several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation then detained a resident.
  • March 25th 2018: Israeli forces raided Burin town, fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents and as a result injured the child Ahmad Faris Hakam Abdel-Latif Mansour {12 years old} leaving him hospitalized after he was struck by a rubber coated steel bullet.
  • March 26th 2018: Hassan Al-Shawamra {53 years old}{An ex-Detainee} died at a hospital in Hebron city of Cancer who was recently released from Israeli Military prison on June 29th 2017 because of his deteriorating health.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in east Khuz'a town located in east Khan Yunis city and as a result killed Jihad Zuhair Salman Abu Jamous {30 years old}, injured 207 residents and left 110 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in Al-Buriej camp and as a result killed 2 residents: Abd al-Qader Merhi Suleiman al-Hawajri {43 years old}, and Naji Abdullah Shehdeh Abu Hujair {24 years old}, injured 124 residents and left 46 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in east Gaza city and as a result killed 4 residents: Mohammed Na'im Mohammed Abu Amr {35 years old}, Mahmoud Sa'di Younis Rahmi {34 years old}, Ahmed Ibrahim Ashour Odeh {19 years old}, and Jihad Mohammed Farina {33 years old}, injured 203 residents and left 97 other suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  •  March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in Jablaiya town and as a result killed 3 residents: Bader Ibrahim al-Sabbagh 21 years, Mohammed Kamal al-Najjar 25 years, Abdul Fattah Bahjat Abdul-Fattah Abdul Nabi 18 years, injured 191 residents and left 75 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  •  March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line launched 6 tank artillery shells towards several residents in east Beit Hanun town and as a result killed 2 residents: Sari Walid Mohammed Abu Odeh {27 years old}, Hamdan Ismail Saber Abu Amsha {23 years old}.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several farmers in Al-Qarara area located in east Khan Yunis city and as a result killed Omar Wahid Nasrallah Samour {31 years old} and injured another.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in east Rafah city and as a result killed 2 residents: Ameen Mahmoud Mu'ammar {22 years old}, and Ibrahim Salah Abu Sha'er {20 years old}{ {both of whom are residents of Rafah district}, injured 150 residents and left 70 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.

  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a section/Room of a home owned by Muhiesien family in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 14th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near Military checkpoint {300} located in south Jerusalem city demolished a home and 4 mobile trailers owned by Rami Abu Tarboush for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 17th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city and forced Ishaq Al-Shwieky to demolish his home {50 square meters} for allegedly being built without a license and forced him to pay a hefty fine.
  • March 19th 2018: Israeli forces in Al-Shiyah area located in Jabal Al-Mukabir inn Jerusalem city forced Faisal Mohammed Musa Jumaa, to demolition of his house for allegedly being built without a license and made him pay hefty fines.

Jericho:

  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Al-Oja city and demolished a home {under construction} owned by Imad Al-Salayma for allegedly being built without a license because of its location in Area (C) which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control.

Bethlehem:

  • March 28th 2018Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed Ein Al-Juziyat area in Al-Walja village in west Bethlehem city and demolished a home {approximately 180 square meters} owned by Nader Mahmoud Abu Khayriya for allegedly being built without a license.

  • March 8th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Al-Farisiya area in the North Jordan valley area and leveled 40 dunams of agricultural land planted with Wheat and barley.
  • March 16th 2018: the Israeli Minister of Communications approved the first section of the plan for the construction of the a light railway and light railway project to connect the colony of Ariel (located residential owned land Salfit governorate within the territories occupied in 1967) in the city of Petah Tikva. The train passes along the "Samaria Highway" and the main centers on both sides of the street, including the Ariel settlement university, the Barkan industrial zone, and the Alkana settlement.

  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in east Rafah city and as a result killed 2 residents: Ameen Mahmoud Mu'ammar {22 years old}, and Ibrahim Salah Abu Sha'er {20 years old}{ {both of whom are residents of Rafah district}, injured 150 residents and left 70 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in Al-Buriej camp and as a result killed 2 residents: Abd al-Qader Merhi Suleiman al-Hawajri {43 years old}, and Naji Abdullah Shehdeh Abu Hujair {24 years old}, injured 124 residents and left 46 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • March 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators protesting to commemorate of the 42 anniversary of Al-Nakba {Catastrophe} in east Khuz'a town located in east Khan Yunis city and as a result killed Jihad Zuhair Salman Abu Jamous {30 years old}, injured 207 residents and left 110 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.

Injuries

A total of 1178 injuries were reported in the month of March 2018 (135 Palestinians in the West Bank and 1043 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 20 children, 1 Woman, 3 Journalists and 1 Paramedic.

Arrests

During the month of March 2018, the Israeli military arrested 588 Palestinians (565 in the West Bank and 23 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (180); Ramallah (83); Jenin (30); Tubas (3) Tulkarem (22); Qalqiliya (32); Nablus (53); Salfit (19); Jericho (17); Bethlehem (47); Hebron (79). North Gaza (6) and Rafah (17). Among those arrested by the Israeli military were: 45 children, 11 women, 2 Elderly residents, 9 University student, 2 Journalist and 8 Security Force Officers

The Israeli Military Temporarily detained 31 residents during the month of March 2018 including 14 children, 2 journalists, 3 Women and 4 Security officers.

 

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of March 2018  the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 321 flying checkpoints in March 2018 (compared with 348 in February and 411 in January 2018) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up 321 Flying checkpoints in the month of March 2018 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (18); Ramallah (43); Jenin (14);Tubas (6), Tulkarem (6); Qalqiliya (55); Nablus (49); Salfit (15); Jericho (20); Bethlehem (38) and Hebron (57).

 

Raids

The Israeli military carried out a total of 573 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of March 2018, including 558 in the West Bank and 15 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (54); Ramallah (58); Jenin (81); Tubas (2); Tulkarem (51); Qalqiliya (47); Nablus (63); Salfit (17); Jericho (13); Bethlehem (65); Hebron (107); North Gaza (3),Gaza (2) Central Gaza (2), Khan Yunis (7) and Rafah (1).

Attacks

A total of 389 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of March 2018 (253 in the West Bank and 136 in the Gaza Strip).

 

The Israeli military carried out 102 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 194 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents9 and vehicle and 46 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 35 attacks on Palestinian fishermen and territory and 8 from air strikes.

Air Strikes :

  • March 15th 2018, Israeli fighter Jets launched 3 missiles towards Palestinian gunmen bases located in east Beit Hanoun town.
  • At dawn on March 18th 2018, Israeli Military aircraft's launched 8 missiles towards agricultural land located in the area between Al-Shija’iya and Al-Zaytoun neighborhoods located in east Gaza city.
  • At dawn on March 18th 2018, Israeli Military aircraft's launched 7 missiles towards Palestinian gunmen bases located in south Gaza city.
  • At dawn on March 18th 2018, Israeli Military aircraft's launched 8 missiles towards agricultural land near Palestinian Gunmen bases located east Al-Zaytoun neighborhoods located in east south Gaza city.
  • March 25th 2018, Israeli Military aircraft's launched 5 missiles {in 2 consecutive strikes} towards Palestinian Gunmen in North West Rafah city.
  • On the evening of March 25th 2018, Israeli Military aircraft's launched 5 missiles {in 2 consecutive strikes} towards Palestinian Gunmen in North West Rafah city.

Palestinian Gunmen detonated 4 explosive devices near the border fence in North Gaza as Israeli Military vehicles passed near the fence, detonated an explosive device near the border fence in east Gaza city, launched 3 projectiles towards the Green line {which landed in east Jahr Al-Dik town}.

Home Demolition

During the month of March 2018, the Israeli military demolished 6 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

Jerusalem:

  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a section/Room of a home owned by Muhiesien family in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 14th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near Military checkpoint {300} located in south Jerusalem city demolished a home and 4 mobile trailers owned by Rami Abu Tarboush for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 17th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city and forced Ishaq Al-Shwieky to demolish his home {50 square meters} for allegedly being built without a license and forced him to pay a hefty fine.
  • March 19th 2018: Israeli forces in Al-Shiyah area located in Jabal Al-Mukabir inn Jerusalem city forced Faisal Mohammed Musa Jumaa, to demolition of his house for allegedly being built without a license and made him pay hefty fines.

Jericho:

  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Al-Oja city and demolished a home {under construction} owned by Imad Al-Salayma for allegedly being built without a license because of its location in Area (C) which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control.

Bethlehem:

  • March 28th 2018Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed Ein Al-Juziyat area in Al-Walja village in west Bethlehem city and demolished a home {approximately 180 square meters} owned by Nader Mahmoud Abu Khayriya for allegedly being built without a license.Attacks on Public and Private Property

Jerusalem:

  • February 28th 2018:  Israeli forces demolished a plant shop, a gas station and their surrounding concrete fence for allegedly being built without a license during their raid into Hizma town.
  • March 6th 2018:  Israeli forces in the Old City of Jerusalem continued to demolish an archaeological hill adjacent to the Asbat Gate (one of the doors leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque). It uncovered underground pillars of the eastern wall of Jerusalem. Hundreds of years ago, the olive trees were uprooted and separated the cemetery of Yusufiya from the wall of Jerusalem
  • March 6th 2018:  Israeli forces demolished a Car wash owned by Mohammad Aodah in Bi'r Ayoub area located in Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem city and a concrete fence owned by Odah family for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 8th 2018:  Israeli forces prevented residents in Jerusalem city from launching a festival in commemoration of International Woman's Day which was hosted by {Woman Association of Life and Democracy} which was supposed to be held at Ravoli Hotel located on Salah Al-Din road in the old city of Jerusalem after Israeli forces stormed the Hotel and served a military order to the Hotel manager preventing him from hosting the festival alleging the event was funded by the Palestinian National Authority.
  •  March 9th 2018:  , Israeli forces prevented a Running Marathon from taking place near Bab Al-Amoud {Damascus Gate} in Jerusalem city after confiscating several Palestinian flags and T-Shirts to be worn during the marathon then detained 2 residents.
  • March 12th 2018:  Israeli forces stormed Al-Mujahidin Cemetery located near Al-Sahara gate {a main gate entrance leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound} in the old city of Jerusalem and broke the tombstones of a number of martyrs.
  • March 14th 2018:  Israeli forces positioned near Military checkpoint {300} located in south Jerusalem city demolished a home and 4 mobile trailers owned by Rami Abu Tarboush for allegedly being built without a license.
  • March 15th 2018:  several members of the Israeli Nature Authority under the protection of Israeli Police forces stormed Bab Al-Rahma Islamic Cemetery located at the east area of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem city and placed
    Signs on Islamic graves in the cemetery.
  • March 26th 2018:  Israeli forces stormed Al-Shiekh Jarrah area in Jerusalem city and demolished a tire repair shop and also served military orders for the demolition of several containers located near The Red Crescent hospital in Jerusalem city.

Ramallah & Al-Bireh:

  • March 13th 2018:  Israeli forces demolished an agricultural storage den owned by Khalid Namoura during their raid into Kafr Malik village.

Jenin:

  • March 13th 2018:  Israeli forces sealed off the family home of Yusef Khalid Kamil {A Palestinian Detainee} with cement blocks {which is 42 square meters} thus making it uninhabitable.

Tubas:

  • March 7th 2018:  the Israeli military forcibly removed several families from their homes in Wadi Ibziq area from 07:00 until 18:00 on March 7th 2018 for alleged Military training in the area.
  • March 13th 2018: At 07:00 on March 13th 2018, the Israeli Military forced 16 families out of their homes in Khirbiet Ibziq village{ after a prior Military order} from 07:00 until 18:00 on March 13th 2018 for alleged Military training in the area
  • March 14th 2018:  the Israeli Military forced 2 families in Khirbiet Iziq village to leave their homes {after a prior Military order} from 07:00 until 18:00 on March 14th 2018 for alleged military training in the area.
  •  March 19th 2018: Israeli forces stormed agricultural land in Al-Aqba village located in the North Jordan valley area and destroyed agricultural crops as they conducted military exercises in the area.
  • March 20th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Um Al-Jamal area located in the North Jordan valley and destroyed crops planted on several plots of agricultural land.

  • March 26th 2018:  Israeli forces leveled a plot of land owned by Moayad Ma'rouf Taqatqa which is used a vehicle junkyard during their raid into Allar town.
  • March 22nd 2018: Israeli forces set fire to and damaged several trees and agricultural crops during clashes in Sabasitya village.
  • March 28th 2018:  Israeli forces removed a number of signs from the archaeological sites in the town of Sabastia, northwest of Nablus, on the grounds that they do not contain translations in Hebrew.

Bethlehem:

  • March 10th 2018:  the Israeli Military forces Musa Hussin Issa {A farmer}{A resident of Al-Khader town} to leave his agriculturist land in Wadt Al-Bayar area located near "Ifrat" settlement for allegedly not having prior Security Coordination.
  • March 14th 2018:  Israeli forces stormed Khilat Al-Thaher area located in Al-Khader town and served a military order for the removal of several Olive trees and Grape vines in order to pave a settlement road in the area after they confiscated several plots of residential owned agricultural land.
  • March 28th 2018:  Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed Ein Al-Juziyat area in Al-Walja village in west Bethlehem city and demolished a tomb stone for Abd Raboo family and its surrounding walls for allegedly being built without a license.

Confiscation of Property:

Ramallah & Al-Bireh:

  • February 28th 2018:  Israeli forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located at the entrance of Ramallah city confiscated a vehicle owned by Ashraf Mohammad Jada' Amro.

Jenin:

  • March 9th 2018:  Israeli forces confiscated 3140 NIS after storming Iz Al-Din Yahya's home during his raid into Al-Arqa village.

Tulkarem:

  • March 19th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated several steel cutting tools and large sums of cash from the home of Sayil Asrawi {A Palestinian Detainee} during their raid into Allar {as mentioned in the previous report}.

Nablus:

  • March 5th 2018:  Israeli forces confiscated 1500 JD, 10000 NIS and Jewelry as they stormed the home of Rami Samir Raji Al-Haj during their raid into Sabastiya village.
  • March 9th 2018:  Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorder footage from a merchant shop during their raid into Beit Furiq town.
  •  March 12th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage from Ahmad Maher's home in Nablus city.

Salfit:

  • March 16th 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Za'tara junction Military checkpoint confiscated 800000 NIS after searching a vehicle owned by Faruq Ayman Haris al-Sayyid after detaining the occupants of the vehicle.

Jericho:

  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated Bank transfers, computers, and the CCTV video surveillance cameras as they stormed and searched "Da'na Currency Exchange Company" during their raid into Jericho city.

Hebron:

  • March 5th 2018:  Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ma'moun Rashed during their raid into Hebron city.
  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 4000 NIS after storming and searching a merchant shop owned by Khalid Salah Al-Din Abu Za'rour then detained him during their raid into Hebron city.
  • March 6th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a Tractor owned by Khalil Hadib Awad after they detained him during their raid into Ithna town {as mentioned in the previous report}.
  • March 21st 2018:  Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ma'zouz Ibrahim Youssef Awad during their raid into Beit Ummar town.

Rafah:

  • March 12th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 3 fishing boats off the shores of Rafah city after detaining 11 fishermen.

 Settlement Activity:

Jerusalem:

  • March 5th 2018:  Israeli forces stormed Al-Farisiya area located in the North Jordan valley region and leveled agricultural land and destroyed Chickpea's crops owned by Ahmad Daraghmah and damaged a plot of land owned by Suliman Abu Muhisien and installed a tent in the area for alleged military training.
  • March 16th 2018: the Israeli Minister of Communications approved the first section of the plan for the construction of the a light railway and light railway project to connect the colony of Ariel (located residential owned land Salfit governorate within the territories occupied in 1967) in the city of Petah Tikva. The train passes along the "Samaria Highway" and the main centers on both sides of the street, including the Ariel settlement university, the Barkan industrial zone, and the Alkana settlement.
  • March 8th, 2018 Israeli forces stormed Al-Farisiya area in the North Jordan valley area and leveled 40 dunams of agricultural land planted with Wheat and barley.

Settler Violence

       A total of incidents of 56  Settler violence occurred during the month of March 2018 including:

Jerusalem:

  • March 10th 2018:  a group of Israeli settlers stormed Batn Al-Hawa area in Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem city , assaulted several children as they passed by "Beit Asal" settlement outpost during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
  • March 11th 2018: an Israeli settler driving a vehicle along the main road in Hizma town ran over the child: Rashid Yasser Kan'an {16 years old} and as a result left him hospitalized with a fractured skull and contusions.
  • March 18th 2018: a group of Israeli settler entered 3 homes located behind the wall gate in Hizma town and punctured the tires of 4 vehicles then spray painted racist and anti-Arab graffiti on the vehicle and the home walls.
  • March 22nd 2018:  a group of Israeli settlers in Jerusalem city assaulted the child: Mohammed Maher Salameh {16 years old} leaving him injured with contusions.

Ramallah &Al-Bireh:

  • March 18th 2018: .Israeli settlers positioned at "Bet El” settlement stoned several vehicles passing along the main road leading to Al-Jalazoun camp.
  • March 18th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Kochav Ha'shachar" located in east Deir Ijreir village and assaulted Mohammad Suliman Al-Dawa'in and attempted to demolish his residential tent as he was herding his goats on agricultural land owned by Ibrahim Mohammad Hassan Da'ajna.
  • March 19th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Turmus'aya town, stoned 10 farmers as they were farming agricultural land and as a result left a resident hospitalized with contusions.

Tubas:

  • March 1st 2018: A Israeli settlers positioned in Al-Farisiya area in the North Jordan valley area assaulted a herd of goats owned by Ali Abu Muhsien and chased the herd away from the area.
  • March 15th 2018: A group of Israeli forces positioned at Khilat Hamad area located in the North Jordan valley then chased away several residents who were herding their sheep in the area.

Nablus:

  • March 1st 2018: A group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Shave Shamron" settlement stoned several residents and vehicles in the area.
  • March 4th 2018:  Israeli settlers from "Bargha" settlement located in south Nablus city stole a donkey owned by Waleed Mohammad Eid {A resident of Burin village} then took it into the settlement.
  • March 7th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli military forces stormed the east area of Burin village then stoned several Shepard's who were herding their sheep during which Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents as they attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result injured 2 residents {including 1 as a result of the settler stoning}.
  • March 8th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Rechelim" settlement stormed agricultural land located in Al-Sawiya village and attacked several farmers then chopped off the limbs of approximately 40 Olive trees owned by Al-Salman family.
  • March 9th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Einbuis village and attacked the home of Mahmoud Ahmad Ahmad Hussien then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli military who fired live ammunition, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result injured 2 residents.
  • March 10th 2018:  Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Burin village and chopped off the limbs of 15 Olive tree owned by Mohammad Raja Zien.
  • March 10th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Orif village, attacked several homes during which Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to stop the settler attack and as a result killed Ameer Omar Shehadeh {19 years old} {A residents of Orif village} and injured 2 others: Hamam Mohammed Safadi and Ibrahim Amir Shehadeh.
  • March 11th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Orif village, attacked several homes during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
  • March 11th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Madma village during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
  • March 12th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stormed agricultural land in Al-Trirah area located in North Halhul town and assaulted several farmers as they were farming their agricultural land and they also attempted to damage a tractor.
  • March 13th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Qaryout village and uprooted 15 Olive tree's owned by Ahmad Jaber Abdallah.
  • March 13th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in south Burin village, threw stones at Mohammad Hassan Al-Najjar {A resident of Burin village} as he was farming his land and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions and damaged his tractor.
  • March 19th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near “Shivat Arhil" settlement leveled a plot of agricultural land in the area {plot #13} located in Jalud village.

Qalqiliya:

  • March 12th 2018: Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Fanduq village assaulted 2 residents: Abdel Hakim Awad Ibdah {A resident of Salfit city} and Hamza Saber Talal Abu Jaber {A resident of Jenin city} and as a result left them hospitalized with contusion.
  • March 23rd 2018:  Israeli settlers positioned at the entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village stoned residents and vehicles.
  • March 24th 2018:  Israeli forces positioned near Kafr Laqif village stoned residents and vehicles.
  • March 25th 2018:  a group of Israeli settlers were present in the area between the towns of Amatin and Far'ata, assaulted 2 residents: Yousef Mahmoud Bari, {60 years old} {a resident of Amatin town} {Head injuries}, and Raafat Rabhi Barri {22 years old} {A resident of Amatin town} and as a result left them hospitalized with injuries and contusions during which Israeli Military forces escorted the settlers from the area.

Salfit:

  • March 9th 2018: group of Israeli settlers positioned in Wadi Qana area stoned residents and vehicles travelling along the main road in Wadi Qana {which connects Salfit and Qalqiliya} and as a result damaged the windshield of a bus and injured its driver: Ala Al-Fatash {A resident of Salfit city}.

Jericho:

  • March 14th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed residential owned land in Al-Oja village and assaulted several residents
  • March 19th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers positioned at road (90) located in North Al-Oja village stoned a school bus owned by Al-Zahra Secondary school while carrying students and as a result injured Nisreen Mohammad Fathi Khalil {A school teacher} leaving her hospitalized with chest injuries and contusions.
  • March 20th 2018:  Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Oja village assaulted Mohammad Maher Mahmoud Jama'at and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.

Bethlehem:

  • March 20th 2018:  A group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Wadi Abu Zaltat area located in Al-Ju'ba village and chopped down and uprooted 30 Olive trees owned by Mohammad Abdel-Majid Hamdan.
  • March 20th 2018:  A group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Wadi Abu Zaltat area located in Al-Ju'ba village and chopped down and uprooted 30 Olive trees owned by Mohammad Abdel-Majid Hamdan.
  • March 28th 2018:  A group of Israeli settlers from "Sde Boaz" settlement closed the main agricultural road in Ein Qasis area in Al-Khader town located in south Bethlehem with cement blocks and prevented residents from reaching their agricultural land.

Hebron:

  • March 2nd 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Al-Rajabi neighborhood in the old city of Hebron then assaulted several residents.
  • March 5th 2018:  A group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli forces stormed Al-Buriyat area located near “Kharsina settlement" located in east Hebron city and installed 4 mobile homes on a plot of land owned by Eidat, Juwihan and Abu Halawa families.
  • March 5th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Mitzpe Yair" settlement located south east Yatta town and assaulted 3 school children from Abu Qubeita family and a Israeli settler driving a vehicle attempted to run over the child Jihan Ibrahim Abu Qubieta {11 years old} as she attempted to cross the Military checkpoint to go to her home.
  • March 6th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Mitzpe Yair" settlement located south east Yatta town and assaulted 3 school children from Abu Qubeita family and a Israeli settler driving a vehicle attempted to run over the child Jihan Ibrahim Abu Qubieta {11 years old} as she attempted to cross the Military checkpoint to go to her home.
  • March 7th 2018: An Israeli settlers from "Mitzpe Yair" settlement outpost located in east Yatta town assaulted Jamlat Ibrahim Mohammad Abu Qubieta {13 years old} as he was near his family agricultural land located near his home.
  • March 9th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Kharuba village located south of "Migon" settlement located in east Yatta town and uprooted 18 Olive trees owned by Yasser Musa Khalil Al-Riba'i and then smashed the windows of 2 vehicles owned by Jum'a Musa Gibril Al-Riba'i.
  • March 10th 2018:  A group of armed Israeli settlers from "Migon" and "Havat Migon" settlements located in east Al-Tuwani village stoned residents and homes during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result left them suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • March 12th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Migon" settlement located in east Yatta town set fire to agricultural land approximately 30 dunums owned by Al-Shawahin family.
  • March 13th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Tel Al-Rumayda neighborhood in the old city of Hebron and prevented Waleed Sharif from entering his agricultural land located near "Ramat Yashi" settlement which is located in the area.
  • March 20th 2018:  A group of Israeli settlers stormed Tuba village located in east Yatta town and assaulted 8 school children: Reem Ali Awad {15 years old} Kifah Abu Jandiya {13 years old}, Hamza Abu Jandiya {15 years old}, Inshra Abu Jendia {14 years old}, Shaimaa Awad {10 years old}, Ezzedine Makhamra {13 years old}, Ibrahim Rashid Awad {18 years old}, and Jabr Rashid Awad {17 years old}.
  • March 25th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Migon" and "Havat Migon" settlements located in Al-Tuwana area in east Yatta town assaulted Jum'a Musa Rabi' as he was herding his sheep in the area and as a result left him hospitalized with contusion and a fractured foot.
  • March 26th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Tel Al-Rumayda neighborhood in Hebron city and assaulted the child Nader Zied Abu Ayasha and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
  • March 26th 2018: Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military stormed a home owned by Yusef Shams Al-Za'tari which is located near Al-Ibrahimi Mosque compound in the old city of Hebron.
  • March 26th 2018: Israeli settlers attacked and stormed the home of Fawaz Qufshiya located in the old city of Hebron then forcibly removed him from his home
  • March 30th 2018: An Israeli settler driving his vehicle near Al-Tuwani village in east Yatta town ran over Hussien Hafith Issa Al-Harini and as a result left him hospitalized with contusion and a fractured leg.

 Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 173 occasions during the month of March 2018. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 113 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 23 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 19 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.

The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 60 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 29 occasions. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
