The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 May 2020 to May 31 2020. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

  • 04.05.2020: Israeli forces raided Aqbat Jabr camp in Jericho city, clashed with several residents and as a result injured Yusef Naseem Muqiti {17 years old}.
  • 07.05.2020: Israeli forces injured the child Ameer Ziyad Rushdi Yusef {15 years old}{a residents of Far'oun village} near the separation wall near Far'oun village after they assaulted him and as a result leaving him hospitalized with contusions, fractures and internal bleeding in the pelvis and collarbone area.
  • 08.05.2020: The two wounded fishermen, as a result of the shooting by Israeli gunboats, towards the boats of the fishermen at sea, off the shore of the Sudanese area, west of the town of Beit Lahia, are: Majed Fadl Bakr and Amran Sabri Bakr.
  • 10.05.2020: Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Fuwwar camp fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 3 children: Murad Bassam Al-Bayed {12 years old}, Abdullah Fayez Abu Hashhash {16 years old}, and Salah Mahmoud Abu Wardah {16 years old} and detained a child.
  • 13.05.2020: , Israeli forces the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets and sound and tear gas canisters towards several resident during their raid into Al-Fawar camp, and as a result killed a child: Ziyad Fadil Qisat {15 years old}{a resident of Al-Thahriya town and injured 4 residents {including 1 critically injured}.
  • 14.05.2020: Israeli forces positioned near the North entrance of Beit Ummar town opened fire towards a vehicle and as a result killed the driver: Baha Al-Din Mohammad Abdallah Al-Awawadeh {18 years old}{a resident of Deir Sammit village}  {for allegedly running over a Israeli soldier}.
  • 14.05.2020: Israeli forces positioned near Al-Arrub camp fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, and stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Obiedat Imad Al-Ra'in {16 years old.
  • 15.05.2020: the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas and tear gas at several residents of Al-'Eizariya town for alleged stoning, which resulted in the injury of a child: Mohammad Ahmad Abu Da'mous {4 years old}  and as a result left him hospitalized with a fractured nose after a tear gas canisters struck him in the face.
  • 15.05.2020: Israeli forces raided Ya'bad town, stormed and searched several homes after blasting open the home entrance owned by Adnan Hamasrhat {a special needs patient} using explosives and as a result left him with head injuries then proceeded to assault 3 residents leaving them hospitalized with contusions and detained a resident.

  • 18.05.2020: a Israeli settler positioned along Salah Al-Din road in the old city of Jerusalem attacked and stabbed a child with a knife and as a result left the child Mohammad Al-Natsha {17 years old} hospitalized.
  • 29.05.2020: Israeli forces positioned in Wadi Raya area located near Al-Nabi Saleh village opened fire towards a resident driving a vehicle and as a result killing Fadi Sarhan Adnan Samara {33 years old} {a resident of Abu Qash village} during which clashed with several resident and as a result injured a resident {who was struck by live ammunition to his leg}.
  • 30.05.2020: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed Eyad Khairy Rawhi Al-Halaq {32 years old} {a special needs patient} {a resident of Wadi Al-Juz neighborhood in Jerusalem} in the old city of Jerusalem.
  • 31.05.2020: Israeli forces positioned at the bypass road near Kafr Malik village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards Rasem Soliman Ghanimat Arrat {15 years old}{a resident of Kafr Malik village}and as a result injured him then detained him.

  • On 06.05.2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders deporting the detainee Nihad Zughier {a resident of Jerusalem city} from his home in Al-Ram town for a period of 15 days and fined him 10000 NIS as a condition for his release after being detained at "Jalbou'" detention center for 35 months.
  • On the morning of 20.05.2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issue an order banning Hamza Nimr {a Security Guard at Al-Aqsa mosque compound} from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 1 week as a condition for his release after being detained at an earlier time.
  • At dawn on 26.05.2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders to expelling Hamza Nimr {a Security Guard at Al-Aqsa mosque compound} from his work place at Al-Aqsa mosque compound after he was summoned by Israeli police to the Police station in Jerusalem city.
  • On 28.05.2020, the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem handed over a decision to deport the citizen: Anan Najib, from his place of residence in the city of Jerusalem (according to the decision, he will be informed of the period of deportation within 72 hours), as a condition for his release after he arrested him earlier.
  •  On 29. 05. 2020 The occupation authorities in Jerusalem served a decision to deport Sheikh Akrama Sabri, head of the Supreme Islamic Authority and preacher of al-Aqsa Mosque, for a week from al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition of his release after he was arrested from his home in the city's Al-Sawana neighborhood, and took him for interrogation at a Israeli Police station.

  • On 30.05.2020, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued orders banning 2 residents: Journalist - Sindas Aweys, Raeda Saeed Al Khalili from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound as a condition for their release after being detained at an earlier time.

  • 05.05.2020: Israeli authorities in Jerusalem city issued a home detention order for Moath Al-Ash'hab {a resident of Jerusalem city} for a period of 5 days, imposed a fine and prevented him from contacting Billal Al-Natsha for a period of 15 days.
  • 06.05.2020:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the main entrance to Kisan village detained the volunteers at the roadblock set up by the emergency committee at the village entrance to control the movement of citizens in order to limit the spread of the "Corona" virus, and later released them after they seized the Palestinian flags that were installed in the place, as they threatened The volunteers need to leave the checkpoint and not return to it again, otherwise they will be arrested, on the pretext that the checkpoint is close to the main street through which the settlers pass, in addition to the proximity to the colony of "Maali Amos" located south of the village.

  • 27.05.2020:  the occupation authorities in the Wadi Hilweh district of the Silwan neighbourhood of Jerusalem city, the citizen: Nasser Siyam, were forced to demolish by himself the addition of a building to his house after notifying him earlier, to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition process, on the pretext of No license.
  • 27.05.2020: Israeli forces demolished a home {under construction} owned by Ibrahim Ibiniyat in Beit Dajan village for allegedly being built without a license.

Arrests

During the month of May 2020, the Israeli military arrested 321 Palestinians (318 in the West Bank and 3 in the Gaza Strip). Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of February 2020,he Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 294 flying checkpoints in May 2020 (206 in March 2020 compared with 132 in April 2020 and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military carried out a total of 200 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of May 2020, including 195 in the West Bank and 5 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (36); Ramallah (23); Jenin (27); Tubas (2); Tulkarem (18); Qalqiliya (13); Nablus (19); Salfit (6); Jericho (6); Bethlehem (12); Hebron (33), Gaza (2), Central Gaza (2) and Khan Yunis (1) .

Home Demolition

During the month of May 2020, the Israeli military demolished 9 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • 10.05.2020: Israeli forces demolished a home {consisting of 2 floors and approximately 200 m2 each floor} owned by the family of Qassim Al-Barghouthi {a Palestinian Detainee} during their raid into Kobar town.
  •  14.05.2020: Israeli forces demolished a storage den {used as housing} and several tents owned by residents near Al-Taybeh town.

  • On 14.05.2020, Israeli forces in Khilet Al-Jama area located in west Deir Istiya town served military orders to halt construction on an agricultural den and a water collection well owned by Hussien Zidan.
  • On 25.05.2020, Israeli forces in the western area of ​​Al-Zawiya town handed over notifications to demolish 10 water collection wells, under the pretext of not licensing, owned by Maher Qadous, Munir Shamlawi, Ribhi Abu Nabaa, Adnan Ali Hamdan, Nizam Hammouda, Haroun Moqadi, Jamal Musleh, Raji Shaqur and Shehadeh Dahbour.

They also leveled a plot of land planted with agricultural crops, covering an area of ​​2 acres.
  • On 28.05.2020, the Occupation Forces in the Old City of Hebron prevented employees of the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee from completing the restoration and maintenance work on the Ibrahimi Mosque, on the pretext that they did not possess a permit from the Occupation Forces (knowing that work inside the Ibrahimi Mosque is within the powers of the Ministry of Awqaf and Affairs Religious in coordination with the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee).

  • On 06.05.2020, a group of Israeli settlers stormed civilian land near Efrat settlement in Al-Khader town and uprooted 450 Grape vines owned by Ibrahim Soliman Subieh.
  • On 15.05.2020, a group of Israeli settlers driving a vehicle stormed Teqou' town then local residents forced them to leave the area at 03:30.

Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 195 occasions during the month of May 2020.
