The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 October 2020 to October 31 2020. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  October  2020

  • On 01.10.2020, Jawad Muhammad Abu Aziz - resident of Yatta town was injured and bruised, as a result of being run over by an Israeli police vehicle, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
  • On 01.10.2020,  Adham Anwar Ahmad Al-Shaer - resident of Burqa village sustained a serious eye injury after he was shot by Israeli forces during clashes in Sebastia village.
  • On 02.10.2020, the occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas, near the eastern (closed) entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddum, at the protesters in protest against the closure of the village entrance, under the pretext that it had been pelted with stones, wounding 15 citizens (Including 3 journalists), and a number of civilians suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.

  • On 25.10.2020, the child: Amer Abd Al-Rahim Sanoub, 18 years old - resident of Yatma village - Nablus governorate, was killed near the town of Turmusaya as a result of the occupation forces severely beating him with rifle butts on his neck from the back, after they arrested him after chasing him while driving a vehicle.

On 10/01/2020, the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed deportation of the citizen: Hisham Al-Bashiti - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 3 months from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after they arrested him earlier.

On 05.10.2020 The occupation authorities in Jerusalem imposed deportation of the citizen: Raafat Samih Muhammad Najib - Sakka, the Old City of Jerusalem, for a period of 5 months from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the roads leading to it.

On 13.10.2020,the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed deportation of 2 children (siblings), for a period of 10 days from the Old City of Jerusalem, in addition to house detention for a period of 5 days, as a condition for their release after they arrested them earlier Abd al-Rahman al-Bashiti, 16, and his brother Hatem, 17

Analysis of Events

Killings

A total of  2 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of October 2020 {2 in the West Bank and 0 in Gaza}:

  • On 05/10/2020, the occupation forces, present in the vicinity of the "Ainaf" checkpoint, fired at Samir Ahmed Abdul-Jalil Hamidi, 23, a resident of the town of Beit Lid, which led to his death.
  • On 05/10/2020, near the town of Turmus Aya, the child: Amer Abdel Rahim Sanoub, 18 years old, resident of the village of Yatma, in Nablus governorate, was killed as a result of the occupation forces severely beating him with rifle butts on his neck from behind, after they arrested him after chasing him while he was driving vehicle.

Injuries

A total of 94 injuries were reported in the month of October 2020 {93 Palestinians in the West Bank and 1 in the Gaza Strip).

Including 10 children, 1 Elderly, and 5 Journalists.

Arrests

During the month of October 2020, the Israeli military arrested 432 Palestinians (425 in the West Bank and 7 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (155); Ramallah (36); Jenin (31); Tubas (9),Tulkarem (7); Qalqiliya (31); Nablus (27); Salfit (7); Jericho (3); Bethlehem (34); Hebron (85),and North Gaza (4) and  Khan Yuounis (3).Among those arrested by the Israeli military were 21 children, 4 Woman,4 University students, 2 Journalists and 3 Security Force Officers.

 

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. The Israeli military carried out 48 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 102 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 60 during raids into Civilian populated areas.   • On 10/13/2020,  a group of settlers entered the citizens' agricultural lands belonging to the village of Al Jab'a, which is located near the settlement of "Beit Ain", by stealing the olive fruit crop on an area estimated at 100 dunams, and broke the branches of a number of olive trees.
  • On 10/14/2020, a group of settlers entered the agricultural lands of the citizens of the village of Al-Jab'a, and cut branches of about 200 olive trees owned by the citizen: Khaled Naji Mahmoud Masha'leh, and withdrew at 18:30.

Hebron:

  • On 10/02/2020,  a settler was driving his vehicle in Khirbet Khallat Al-Niyas, located between the villages of Susiya and Al-Simiya near the town of Al-Samou, when a settler ran over a herd of sheep owned by a citizen: Ali Al-Awawdeh, resulting in the death of 10 of them.
  • On 10/04/2020,  a group of settlers in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in the Old City of Hebron assaulted 6 civilians: Imad Abu Haykal, Labib Abu Haykal, Hussein Abu Heikal, Ahmed Abu Haikal, Wadih Abu Haykal, and Shuaib Abdul Basit.

Closure of Crossing Points
